5.0 out of 5 stars Allowed my son to wrestle
This product works great. The only one on the market that I could find for my teenage son who wears braces. I tried some other brands that claimed to work but the channels weren't wide enough for his braces to fit down into. These worked perfectly and were a lot more cost effective than having an orthodonist make a custom fitted one. I recommend these for anyone who has a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as it sounds
This mouthguard is designed for people whose teeth are practically in place already. I have a slight overbite, so the mouthguard was pretty uncomfortable. Also, The first time that I took the mouthguard out, it got caught on one of my brackets and hurt really bad when I managed to get it off. I'd recommend this for people who have metal braces (mine are ceramic), and...

This mouthguard is designed for people whose teeth are practically in place already. I have a slight overbite, so the mouthguard was pretty uncomfortable. Also, The first time that I took the mouthguard out, it got caught on one of my brackets and hurt really bad when I managed to get it off. I'd recommend this for people who have metal braces (mine are ceramic), and whose teeth are almost all the way fixed...I.E...people who don't have overbites.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but not very durable, January 15, 2012
This review is from: Shock Doctor Double Braces Strapless Mouthguard (Sports)
My son wrestles, this mouthguard is the most comfortable out there and works well. One reviewer complained about not being able to close your mouth around it... true, but not an issue... it is essential for being able to breath out of ones mouth during heavy aerobic activity - the airholes enable this. My only complaint is that the material is not durable... a mouthguard lasts only 1 season before falling apart.

1.0 out of 5 stars painful, December 11, 2011

I am a 43 yr old Karate student. I used this for one sparring match and got a blood-blister in the back of my mouth instantly. It was too long and I had blood in my mouth within two minutes. I called the company as it has a policy if it causes damage. I did not meet their requirements as I purchased through Amazon. Could not return it or get credit etc.
I did receive my purple belt that evening, however I have taken myself out of defense classes until I get my braces off.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of $, November 15, 2011

Bought the youth size for my 8 y.o. daughter. she plays basketball & orthodontist suggested shock doctor. read reviews prior to purchasing & although both good & bad reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. Rec'd shipment quickly. Daughter got the mouthpiece in but could barely close her lips. Even if she left it in, no way she could breath while running around and wouldn't be able to concentrate on the game. We'll try the disposable mouthpieces other reviewers are suggesting. Don't waste your money on this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't even close my lips!, February 21, 2011
This review is from: Shock Doctor Double Braces Strapless Mouthguard (Sports)
This was such a waste of money...recommended by the ortho. What good is a product if the kids won't or CAN'T use it? My daughter can't close her lips over it. Never mind being able to talk with it in...which you need to be able to do in team sports. My regular dentist is making her a mouth guard, cheaply. Just ask your ortho for a mold of your kids teeth (with braces) and have one made. Save your money on this bulky, huge, drooly, useless mess!
