Happy Hockey Mom,

Bought the Shock Doctor dryer along with the medium wheeled bag for my son to hold lots of stinky gear. Has been a great success with the hockey son, (owner of much stinky gear), hockey sisters (offended by stench issuing from gear) and the cat, who rather digs the stench and likes to plant her cold fanny on top of the warm bag while it dries and de-funks the gear. Works great, dryer is quiet, shuts off when cycle is done, dries a full set of gear, charcoal filter in dryer prevents air issuing from bag turning household into simulated hockey locker room. Love it.

Broken unit, poor design quality, see uploaded pics.,

Purchased blower & bag from Inlinewarehouse Feb 2008 for hockey.
PROS: -Good idea for a product, creative. -Takes a little work after a game to re-arrange gear in the most "airflow efficient" manner and also attaching the blower to the bag later on but worth it and easier in the end compared to removing and replacing all your gear to fan it off. CONS: -If you turn the time dial all the way to the right (to get the most time from it), it will get stuck there and the unit could potentially be on all-day or night sucking up useless power and (over-heating?) your gear. So it's important to make sure you don't turn the dial all the way around. -Both the red and green buttons on the unit can get stuck as well, either in engaged mode or will stay disengaged. If instead you are a little more "deliberate" and "forceful" with them they will normally get unstuck. -3 hr timer (for the standard power dry model) is not sufficient to dry roller hockey gear. Have to run it through about twice to get the desired effect. -Used 1-2 times per week for around 1 yr and the unit started making loud clicking (or tapping) noises. Not long after, the noises got much, much worse and I began to question the safety of the unit (like catching fire?) when unmonitored. (which if it's out in the garage doing it's thing, you would not expect to have to monitor it for safety reasons.) Took the unit apart and noticed the blower fan wheel they use has an entirely plastic interior where it attaches to the motor which cracked in several places. SEE PICTURES UPLOADED FOR MORE INFO. Emailed Shock Doctor about this issue 3 times and it took them 26 days to get back to me. Even when they did it was obvious they hadn't read a word of my email and were not willing to help either way. CONCLUSION: Nice product for the short time it lasted but the plastic blower fan is just BOUND to break on these units, a design flaw if I've ever seen one! If only they made the plastic material thicker perhaps it would stand the test of time....but not the way they've implemented it. Or perhaps they should use metal instead? Also their customer service leaves much to be desired. I've purchased tons of their products over the years but my confidence is wavering. I would only hope this information reaches them so they can improve the flaws in this unit so that it can be used beyond the year of ownership it provided.

The Shock Doctor system is a really great idea. The problem is that the basic dryer that is sold for the system doesn't have enough power to actually dry the things in the bag. I've read the reviews, I've researched the internet.. it just doesn't do the job. So I spent the extra money and bought the SUPER dryer. And it works! My husband LOVES it for his hockey equipment and I love that it removes the smell (he likes the fact that his stuff isn't freezing cold anymore). The changes I would make: make the timer at least 4 or 5 hours. The 3 hours does a good job, but 4 or 5 hours would be fantastic. I was amazed at how quiet it is. Good deal. hard to find elsewhere

Probably the best thing I have ever bought and probably should have bought it sooner. My wrestling shoes and fighting equipment smell bad after use... It's not like I don't clean them either. When I first use theses items, they don't stink for a while and when it does, I wash it. After the first wash, no matter how long or hard I wash them and disinfect them, the smell always comes back after one use. I got this dry blower and my stuff have been fresh for a few weeks. It has no smell at all. The dry blower uses heat or regular air and has an ozone option that probably makes the smell better. My items don't smell so I have to wash them every 2 weeks because they're probably dirty.
PROS: Keeps things smelling fresh. Dries fast. Timer. Heat option. CONS: Kind of bulky. I got this with the octopus attachment which is probably the best attachment for this item.

Great helmet dryer,

We use this during race weekends and works very well to keep your helmet dry and insures the wicking action of your liner. We also use the attachments so we can dry more than one helmet at a time.
