Good Mouthguard,
By
This review is from: Shock Doctor Youth Power Gel DNA Mouthguard with Strap (Sports)
I have 9 and 11 year old boys who have been playing tackle football since 7 and have now added lacrosse to their list of favorite sports. Lucky mom, first hitting with bodies and now hitting each other with sticks too :-) Needless to say, we have gone through our share of mouthguards. This is a step up from the entry level models in that there is more of the blue goo that you melt and form to their teeth plus a more significant outer plastic so it fits tighter and lasts longer. But it is a step down from the better/more expensive models which mold to both their uppers and lowers. (This "in-between" model does have a small amount of the blue mold in a small square where the childs last upper and lower molars meet in the back of their mouth.) In response to the other reviewer that only gave one star because it was not as pictured with the words on the side -- I don't rate mouthguards on their appearance (it's in your mouth after all), only comfort and function. It does provide good protection for their teeth and the boys don't mind wearing it as it is not uncomfortable for a mouthguard. It also comes with a tether to keep it attached to their helmet. The kids still loose them or chew them (which ruins them) so I can't really justify getting multiples of the more expensive models.

all good - though wish the tether were a bit tighter,
This review is from: Shock Doctor Youth Power Gel DNA Mouthguard with Strap (Sports)
Exactly as expected! More comfortable than some of the other guards my 8 year olds has tried. Only slight complaint would be the tether connection point ... can easily pull out (well, wouldn't be that easy if my son didn't carry his helmut by his mouth guard (but then he is 8 ;-)
Issue created is it get "looser" as it's pulled out more frequently ... next thing you know, the tether is on your helmut and the mouthguard itself is lost!! All of that said, have already purchased the back-up ... and will keep one in storage for the rest of the season!!

This item is not as pictured. It comes plain with no GEL NANO on the side of the mouth piece. Pictures are not accurate.
