I had heard of these guys a little while ago with "Excalmation!" and dug what I was hearing as far as the music went. I bought this album not too long ago having really enjoyed "Nicotine Queen", "Dive-Bomb" and "Casket Junkie". I gave it a good few spins through and if you enjoy the music and want to know what the singer is saying.. don't. The lyrics on this album are pretty weak as far as I am concerned which was really a shame because the music is great! huge sound, great guitars and big drums and each song gives you a good kick. So of course when you dig it enough to want to sing along a bit you check out the lyrics and it's just dissapointing is all because it's as if the words are just there.. they don't tell you anything or even make you want to sing along. So I'm happy to keep spinning this CD because the music rocks pretty good but I'll just try to ignore the words.
P.S.- If someone knows amore about what he's talking about in most of the songs or if there's a reason the wording is so ambiguous to anything please let me know. Overall not a bad CD.

Now, I agree with both other reviews in that TGV is similar to ETID, but they deserve a better that a 3 star review. Some people may prefer TGV to Every Time I Die. I ,for example, prefer Destroy The Runner over As I Lay Dying though many consider Destroy The Runner an As I Lay Dying clone. That is why I gave TGV a 4-star instead of 3-star. I am in agreement with the other review of the cd. There are traces of Every Time I Die in the cd, and it seems to be capitalizing on the whole southern rock and metalcore style. Who knows how long this will last?

But the cd is very enjoyable, some great breakdowns, but its still a little stale.

I've loved every single release from Solid State Records and this album is no exception....However, Twelve Gauge Valentine is trying really hard to be Every Time I Die. It's a good album, don't get me wrong; you should buy it. But I've heard it before (better) from ETID.

I discovered this band and I share common origin in Bastrop, Louisiana. So I bought the album blind to see how a band from my hometown might sound. I'm a musical omnivore and willing to listen to almost anything once.

This, and another album, "Exclamationaire", are the worst dreck I ever heard. The band's development was obviously arrested in early adolescence. If there had been more support for little league baseball or the Bastrop mill had provided enough jobs this mess would not have been necessary. The music expresses the full range of emotion from III.2.c to III.2.d, which is the embarrassingly strident demand for attention from the children of parents who cling to guns and religion. Unfortunately that's not the stuff that leads to good opera. Louisiana's giant contribution to American music is diminished by this racket. Don't waste your money, don't encourage these dweebs.

A blatant rip off of every time i die. If they're a rip off of someone else, well, then just keep going down the chain until you get to the original. Too many of the songs are based off the standard blues scale. They sort of blend together. Also, the vocalist lacks so much of what ETID's brings.
Nothing special.
They are Christian, though, and if you don't like 'godless' music, then go for it. Course, you're missing better music.

The name is sorta stupid, too, for how unshocking the sound is.
