June 29, 2008: I owned a Wavebird and I want a second wireless controller. I read the amazon reviews, that was very helpful. Now I have the ShockWave and I agree with all the reviews. It's no difference with the Wavebird in accuracy, responsiveness and the controls are the same size than Wavebird. I bought the white because I read that the silver is painted and is worn with the usage. In conclusion this is an excellent wireless controller with the advantage of the rumble. Sometimes with the Wavebird I rotate by accident the channel control. With this controller I don't have this problem.
Nov 19, 2009: A year later the controller is working great!

I bought two of these and decided they were good enough to buy two more.
Pros: -Relatively inexpensive. -Long battery life (approximately 50 hours gaming with rumble on). -Relatively light (most of the weight comes from the batteries) and comfortable. -Range is excellent (for sure greater than 30'). Cons: -With four of them in the Wii, they are clearly fighting for space pushing against each other. With three, you can't easily tell but plugging the fourth one in is tight fit. -The joysticks seem not to be ultra sensitive so it is pretty hard to make characters move slowly/precisely in games. Notes: -Every controller comes with its own little box that plugs into the Wii. -The controller is permanently bound to the box it came with. Think of it like an invisible cable connecting it so whatever controller is associated with the box is the player that controller will be. -The packing is a bit hard to get the controller out of but you only have to do it once so it isn't that big of a deal. -The light on the controller flashes slow when not connected to a controller box, it flashes fast when the batteries are almost dead, and it is steady when connected and has plenty of charge. -The Wii Remotes stop working once you enter Gamecube mode. As such, the Bluetooth in the Wii goes off. That is why this comes with boxes that plug into the Wii.

Normally, I would not suggest using a third party controller, as they have a tendancy to break easily and quickly. However, I have found this controller to be sturdy and accurate. I have used it with Smash Bros. Brawl and have not noticed any difference between it and a wired OEM controller.
The only downside is that the grip is a little different than that of an OEM Gamecube controller, but it is an adjustment that is not hard to make.

I missed the rumble feature of the wired controllers when I went wireless on the wavebird. This shockwave controller is made of tougher high quality plastics that feel good in your hands and the angles of the handles suits me BETTER than the wavebird AND I got my rumble back... I sold the high priced bird. I would get more of these and you should too.

Got two of these remotes last week for my son's 6th birthday. Have not had the first hiccup with the product and it connects to the Wii every time.

I bought this to play GC games and virtual console on my Wii. It worked great for about a week but then the Z and B buttons started to stick really bad. Also the A button is really, really loud. I didn't have any problems with battery life as it shuts itself off if you forget to turn it off yourself. Used it daily for about 6 months and had to replace the batteries about 4 times.
Both sticks were responsive and the d-pad is okay. D-pad has a weird shape and doesn't feel right though. The Z button won't pop back up at all now so the controller is unusable. I took it apart to see what the issue was and it turns out that the plastic the external Z button is made of actually bent. The internal button also does not function at all anymore. Descent controller for the money if you don't mind the ear shattering click of the A button and you're not going to use it a lot. Best for N64 games on VC but for Gamecube it just kinda sucks. Think I'll get a wavebird.

Good:
The receiver and controller paired right away. Wireless Gamecube controller for those classic games on the Wii. Completely wireless, Wii remote ball-and-chain free, to play and roam about. On and off switch to conserve batteries. No channel settings (can be a bad). Rumble for those that support it. Alright: Three AAA batteries... Could have went with the typical two AA batteries. Bad: Analog stick not as smooth as the Nunchuck or regular made by Nintendo Gamecube controllers. Bear to use for precise and accurate aiming. Hexagonal notches are WRONG. The notches are just plainly in the wrong places. Meaning if I hold up, the stick has two points to slip side to side to possibly and doesn't help me to lock in that UP. UPDATE: Very BAD: After several months, the analog stick is stuck to having the game cursors, character, whatever movement to be stuck to going left. I have not found any remedy for this. I will be glad when the Official White Gamecube controller comes through (sacrificing wireless is a small price for quality) so I can continue to enjoy Virtual Console and the few Gamecube games I have. Notes: My controller from hours of playing has the sticks wear indentations in the plastic from mashing the wrong hexagonal indents. Cliffs: It is an alright controller (for awhile) but I would take the chance and get a Wavebird if I can or stick with the good ol wired Gamecube controllers. Nintendo if you can hear all of your player base and fans, re-release the Wavebird, make the Classic controller completely ball and chain free from the Wiimote and work with Gamecube titles, or release that Classic Controller Pro in North America.

Bought this for use with a WII, playing Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. It worked perfectly for both; driving is much easier with this controller, and I highly recommend it for anyone playing Mario Kart seriously.
It also worked very well with Super Smash Bros. I found I had more control over my character with this controller.
