4.0 out of 5 stars Multi-media component worth the money
The songs are good, and it is nice to hear a previously unreleased song (Trust Me), but the whole reason to buy this CD is for the multi-media tracks. You get the entire video to Alternative Girlfriend and What a Good Boy, clips of many of their other videos, some live footage from a show, plus over twenty other short home-video clips of the band members recording in the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Unoriginal and overrated CD
When I purchased this CD, I was looking forward to original music and original content in the enhanced portion. I ended up being sorely disappointed. This CD features only four tracks: the album version of Shoebox, the radio edit of Shoebox, a new version of If I Had $1000000, and Trust Me. "Trust Me" is the gem of this CD, and without it, this CD would get...

4.0 out of 5 stars Multi-media component worth the money, November 15, 2000

The songs are good, and it is nice to hear a previously unreleased song (Trust Me), but the whole reason to buy this CD is for the multi-media tracks. You get the entire video to Alternative Girlfriend and What a Good Boy, clips of many of their other videos, some live footage from a show, plus over twenty other short home-video clips of the band members recording in the studio, talking, and cavorting around town, being their zany, humorous selves. If you are a fan of the band, this CD is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Worth Buying!, July 29, 2000
This review is from: Shoe Box EP [ENHANCED] (Audio CD)
Many BNL fans ponder on why BNL released "Shoe Box EP." Some say BNL was trying to simply make money. Others say they wanted fans to hear the original version of 'If I Had $1,000,000.' Yet there is an unreleased track included on the album. "Trust Me" is a great song. That song, alone, is just enough to buy the album. It's a great track, and a wonder to me why it was not included on 'Gordon' or on 'Maybe You Should Drive.' It would have fit perfectly on each of those. I suggest to those just discovering the Barenaked Ladies to buy this one first. It's a great way to discover just why so many people love these guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Ep I have bought!, August 23, 1999

By far, the best BNL album I own. Only having four tracks shouldn't stop this one from selling, especially to a die hard BNL fan! Apart from seeing it performed live, the best version of "If I Had a Million Dollars" I've heard yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Four tracks, but still great, December 13, 1999

Ok, so Shoebox isn't exactly my favorite Barenaked Ladies song, but that didn't stop me from getting the EP. For one, there's the classic Yellow Tape version of If I Had $1,000,000. Trust Me is a great song. I personally love the line, "I don't know where I'm going, you can drop me there." But perhaps the best part of the whole thing, and worth the price all on its own, is the multimedia. So much fun, and so huge. Lots of goodies to keep you entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sample of the Ladies, February 6, 2000

Most people do not realize that BNL does have more albums and songs besides "one week" I think that if you liked "stunt" then this is a good CD to buy if you want to sample some of their other work. The ever famous "if i had a $1000000" is on this too. And the song "Shoe Box" is fun. Whenever I listen to their music, it makes me smile, and that's the biggest compliment I can give any group.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sampling of the "Ladies", December 13, 1999

This review is from: Shoe Box EP [ENHANCED] (Audio CD)
A quick sample of BNL in their natural environment. The "Shoe Box" remix adds power to the already good song, making it excellent. The non-album track "Trust Me" is a good find that could have been pasted on any of their albums without annoying anyone. "If I Had $100000" is somewhat more barebones here but still quite funny. There's no real reason for the album version of "Shoe Box" to show up at the end (except, I suppose, so you can compare it to the remix), so deduct a star for that. In all, a quick tasty intro to the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't forget the CD-ROM!, June 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Shoe Box EP [ENHANCED] (Audio CD)
A great cd in its own right, Shoe Box offers some of the best of the BNL, including "Shoe Box" itself (featured also on the FRIENDS television soundtrack) and "If I Had 1,000,000." However, not to be missed is the debut of the BNL cd-rom, repeated on Born On A Pirate Ship and Rock Spectacle. This is also the transition cd for the Ladies. With this one, they go from hugely popular in Canada and the Western United States to well-known and liked across North America.

These guys are amazing! All their albums have significant meaning to me, yet finding this jem on the internet completed my collection. I had only heard of the Yellow Tape version of "if i had a million dollars" and and new release to boot. Well worth the 12 bucks canadian. To all american fans this cd must cost what a buck, buck and a half american.

BNL is not just a Canadian band any more as shown in this album. Shoebox shows the fun loving BNL that helped sky rocket BNL to Canadian fame. Way to go guys
