This only works on dress shoes or any with a thin top. The clip can not push over sneakers and work boots or even a casual shoe. The clip is too tight and when trying to push with one hand it will only squish the shoe rather than open up. They made it too tight in hope to lift the shoe but that does not work well either.

AND if you can not get the clip over the shoe it is too hard to use as a shoe horn with the clip. The clip will be in the way if you have to stick the entire end in the shoe. If you have to bend over to pick up the shoe, you might as well use a regular shoe horn.

The clip is the key. Yes it does seem strong enough, but the product gets a 2 out of 5. The clip does not hold a heavy shoe even when it can fit over the lip. The clip can not be pushed over sneakers and wider material shoes when only holding the handle. If you have to bend over to pick up the shoe, the product is nothing more than a funny commercial.

Also the shoedini handle does not collapse very much. You maybe only save 1 foot. I am 5'2" and I still need it extended all the way so I do not see any benefit to the telescoping handle. In its collapsed state, you gaining much storage ease.

I have bought 2 foot plastic shoe horns in the past. There are other long reach products you can find for less. You do not need shoedini if the feature of the clip can not be used. The clip is what sold me on the idea.
But since it is too tight to fit over most shoes and sneakers, I returned it.

This really does work just that much better than a plain shoehorn. My husband had hip surgery with nerve complications and this allows him to put his own shoes on without assistance. I wish it could tie laces! Worth the money if you need the help.

I purchased this item more than a month ago and have found it to be flimsy. The plastic of the hook bends too easily and it is unable to function like it does in the commercials. I should have returned it, but it's too late now.

I purchased this item despite the reviews that said not to, and now I'm writing one saying the same thing. It is everything they say it is, flimsy, cheap, fragile and not durable. I got the bamboo one instead and that works in an amazing fashion. This is a good idea but needs to be reinvented to endure stress. Sorry.

I bought this for my Grandfather after he saw it in one of those magazines that cater to the mature population. He absolutely loves it because it really does extend approximately 30 inches and has the clip feature that helps secure his shoes while he's taking them on and off.

This helps him a lot because he doesn't have to bend down or struggle with a regular shoe horn and he also has dexterity issues so the clip is a real plus.

A few reviews mentioned this is only good for dress shoes. My grandfather wears light casual sneakers all the time with two velcro snaps and never has a problem. I could see this as an issue for work boots or very thick sneakers but after all it's called the shoedini not the sneakerdini ;-)

In all, I'm rating it 4 stars because it serves its purpose and does the job well. The one thing I would improve is the construction--I agree with a few of the other reviews that the material may not be made of the highest quality, however with a little care you shouldn't have any problems with it breaking.

Bottom Line: Good value for the money.

Product is advertised as being of value to people having a hard time bendind to put on their shoes. Product is worthless. I bought two, broke the first one just attemting to slide it over an empty shoe. Have not been able to find one way this product can help me put on my shoes.

I already had a Shoedini which is why I ordered this one. The one I received was exactly like the one I had. I am happy with it.

My father recently broke his hip & ankle, but even after surgery he can't bend over much at all!!! This is a life saver for helping him get his shoes on & off.
