5.0 out of 5 stars Shoebag
Out of the seventy-five books, I've read this year, counting last year altogether. My most favorite book is Shoebag. The author is Mary James. There was a boy who became a cockroach and was adopted by the Biddles. Pretty Soft is a Tiolet Paper commerical girl. I will rate this book 5 stars because it is funny. The characters have funny names too! And they're also funny.

I read all night. I couldn't put it down. My favorite character is Shoebag, of course! I think Pretty Soft and G.De La.G resemble me the most.

5.0 out of 5 stars a crowd pleaser, February 8, 2000

I teach reading to seventh graders. This book is a big hit with my reluctant readers! I get a little upset when the elementary teachers read it to their classes because that action leaves me without a great book to teach. Although easy to read, there's some "meaty" stuff in here that leads to great class discussions and a memorable reading experience for my students.

This book had some funny parts, but it was boring and it also didn't make sense. I just recommend this book to people who like fiction and strange stories.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shoebag (Apple Paperbacks) (Paperback)
The book, Shoebag by Mary James is the weirdest book I've ever read. It's about a cockroach who becomes a person and how his life changes. Though it was weird I liked it. Before I read it I thought it would be boring, but it was incredibly funny. I recommend this book to whoever likes comedies

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shoebag (Apple Paperbacks) (Paperback)
The book, Shoebag is written by Mary James. Shoebag is about a cockroach that turns into a human. The genre is fiction. It takes place in a school, a house and a park. The problem is that Shoebag had too many problems like being picked on and a spider wants to eat his mother. This book was one of the weirdest and coolest books I have ever read. I recommend this book to people who like strange and dramatic stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoebag is seriously amazing., October 15, 1999

I tend to read more than my agelevel's usual quotient of children's books, and this one is really, really, reallyreally good. Plus, it includes the 'Cockroach Prayer for the Dead' which I use fairly frequently in real life.. this book is more than worth it.

Shoebag, the funny story of a young cockroach turned human is more than just a funny children's book. It has a strong message about changing, and still being the same. Read the book.
