If you are looking for a well priced, informative, easy to read, well illustrated and explained, step by step manual on how to shoe your horse... This is the book for you.

I have bought 4 books, so far, on horse shoeing. This one, "Shoeing Right", is by far the most recommendable: Every part of shoeing a horse is explained and illustrated (with clear, good quality pictures - not just drawings). The next best thing would be a live course on horseshoeing.

I bought several horseshoeing books to help me understand and care for my barefoot horse. This along with "Maximum Horsepower" gave me the best insight into the farriers craft.

It clearly explains hoof balance and angles, discusses the farriers craft, training and costs (something that should get anyone who has complained about shoeing costs thinking!).

I found this book an excellent guide and will use it for reference for many years to come.

This little book does a wonderful job of explaining shoeing basics. If you find yourself utterly mystified by what your farrier does, this will sort you out, and help you to understand the basics of both a proper trim and shoeing (as necessary). Plenty of helpful information even for barefoot extremists, too :)
