This review is from: The Shoemaker's Daughter (Paperback)
This is the first of Iris Gower's "Cordwainers" series. I really loved it. The story moves quickly and the end leaves you hungry for more.
It is a family saga that takes place around 1815 in Wales. The main character is Hari Morgan whose father taught her the boot and shoe making trade. After her father dies she takes over the shop to support herself and her invalid mother. There is romance, controversy and wonderful secondary characters. I've just ordered the sequel and can hardly wait to read it. |
