Another awesome effort!,

This review is from: No Shoes No Shirt No Problems (Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
I was hoping when I heard the title of this CD that the cover would have Kenny Chesney with no shoes and no shirt. No such luck. It is another great effort by Kenny though, and this CD is nearly perfect. The songs range from the rockin' ("Young") to the touching ("The Good Stuff") and the inspiring ("Big Star"). The title track is my personal favorite and I hope it will be single on radio. The last track is the most haunting though, with some help from buddy Tim McGraw, Kenny pours his heart out and it kind of ends the CD on a down note - the reason for subtracting a star. Kenny Chesney's star is on the rise because he is an awesome singer, but at the same time a guy next-door type. This CD is great!

'No Problems' Here,

Kenny Chesney took a break from the recording studio for a while, but he's back with his first studio album since 1999's EVERYWHERE WE GO. NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO PROBLEMS is well worth the wait. The album features songs which run through a similar vein, reliving memories and the past, all with a sense of carefree and freedom to them. The first single "Young" is a song many can relate with, remembering one's youth where you were free and you marched to your own drum, no fears, no regrets. The title track has a tropical like feel to it, with a carefree feeling and relaxed approach. Songs like "Big Star", and "Dreams", tell the story about never giving up on your dreams, and watching them come true. There are also some commanding ballads that you would expect from Chesney, such as "A Lot of Things Different", "I Remember", "On The Coast of Somewhere Beautiful", "One Step Up", and "I Can't Go Back There". Overall it seems that Kenny took time off, and it was well worth it, with another consistent good album, perhaps up in the running for his best since 1997's I WILL STAND. Overall its a great album for the summer time, or any mood your in, give it a listen!

His Best Album Ever...And a great Album Overall,
By

This is the best album that Kenny Chesney has produced yet. There is literally not one bad song on it. I bought it a week ago and have not yet taken it out of the cd player. There are a lot of ballads on this album. The title song "No shoes, No shirt..." is an island type song about him dreaming of getting away from it all. It has an "island" feel to it without the steel drum. "Live the Songs" is my favortie track...it is very upbeat and is about a guy who wishes that he could relive the parts of his life that he is reminded of when he hears a certain song. "Young" is of course the first release about adolescence. #6- A slower song about a gal that he is thinking of and he knows that she has moved on with her life and is living "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful. #4- The Good Stuff-is his latest release and he sang it on the ACM's. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. In the CD insert, it did not have the words but it gives a story from Kenny Chesney about what the songs are really about and why he decided to record them. If you like his music style and are looking for an easy listening cd that you don't have to skip a bunch of songs...then this is the one!

No Problems Here!,

"No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" is definitely Kenny Chesney's best album! There's a perfect mix of beautiful love songs and some fun, fast-paced tunes. There are so many terrific songs on here, but some of my favorites are:"I Can't Go There"- A pretty song about how it's difficult to visit certain places after a relationship has ended, since the memories still linger there. Kenny's good friend, Tim McGraw sings a small part towards the end of the song. "Big Star"- A very fun song about a small-town girl who becomes a famous singer. Includes the lyric "She signed autographs like she was Garth Brooks in a skirt." "The Good Stuff"- A thought-provoking song about the good, simple things in life. One of the best on the CD. "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems"- A fun, laid-back song. Perfect to listen to during the summer! "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful"- Kenny says that the idea for this song came from a girl he met when he moved to Nashville who loved the beach so much she left Tennessee and broke his heart. Now he says, he knows she running with a piece of his heart on the coast of somewhere beautiful. "Live Those Songs"- Similar to the title track, but this one's more energetic. "Young"- A song about the carefree days when a person is young. This CD is the best one in my collection. Another great thing about this is that on the liner notes, Kenny tells you what each song is about and what it means to him. If you want to buy a Kenny Chesney album, make it "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems." It's a huge success!

..nor him, but he puts out one enjoyable album (which I'd really give 4.5 stars). Aside from music snobs with closed minds, this album has something for everyone. It's not high art, but it's good listening!1. Young - Good song...hate the 'whoo whoo's' but still give it 3.5 of 5 stars. 2. I Remember - Reminds me of Conway Twitty - 3 of 5 stars. 3. A Lot of Things Different - great song! 5 stars. 4. The Good Stuff - Awkward, sappy and absurd; I hate it, but it's a hit for some reason - 1 of 5 stars. 5. Big Star - what a fun song! 5 stars. 6. On the coast... - Great song, sad but comforting - 5 stars 7. Never gonna - Maybe the best song Kenny's ever recorded...this one gives me chills - it's probably too 'real' for radio though - 5+ stars. 8. Dreams - Not the best, but it's about his mom, so I won't dock it too many stars - 3 of 5 stars. 9. No shoes - great anthem - 4 of 5 stars. 10. Live Those songs - Another absurd premise, but the chorus rocks so good, I forgive the songwriters for the stretch - 4 of 5 stars. 11. One Step Up - Kenny does an admirable job on one of Bruce's more melancholy songs - 3.5 of 5 stars. 12. I can't go there - solid sad song 3 of 5 stars. Good album. It's not pop-country, and it's not redneck country (ok a little), it's mostly right in the middle. Go get it...and blare that baby at top volume (at least in the privacy of your room).

I'm an african american female, that basically listens to rap and r&b, but where I work they listen to country, and everytime Young comes on, I fall in love, so I bought the album and I play it all the time. Music has no boundries!!

This is my first Kenny Chesney CD, I decided to buy it because of the song "Good Stuff" and "Young". I've been blown away ever since I've popped this new CD into my CD Player. It's been the only CD I've been listening to for the past week. Most CD's only have a few good songs and the rest are just track you normally skip, but every track on this CD is great.I can relate to just about every song on this CD and it's musically phenomenal. Particularly the song "A Lot of Things Different", that has become one of my favorite songs on this CD. The first time I had ever heard this song was when he performed it at the CMA Awards, and honestly, I wasn't very impressed. Now that I hear it again, it's become one of my favorite songs. "A Lot of Things Different" and "Good Stuff" still gives me the chills everytime I hear it. I was also very impressed with Kenny's song "Dreams" which he wrote himself, this is a song I can totally relate to as my Mother is in the same boat that his Mother was in when he wrote the song. I highly recommend this CD to any country music fan, and even if you're not a country person, you'll love the lyrics. I'm gonna have to get his Greatest Hits CD next.

An Honest Straight Forward Approach,
By
This review is from: No Shoes No Shirt No Problems (Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
What I like the most about Kenny Chesney is the honesty that comes through in all his songs. You can really feel what he is saying and believe that he really means it.There is something very appealing about Kenny. He is just a regular guy. It just seems like he could be your buddy, sitting around shooting the breeze. This CD is full of fun songs, like most of Kenny's work. But it also has it's share of thoughtful songs too. "The Good Stuff" is an anthem to appreciating the little things in life. It has the talky style of an old country song. But has a contemporary sound too. "Big Star" is a great song. The video for the song really brings it to life. It tells the story of a woman who begins singing at a Karaoke bar and hits the big time. Kenny belts the song out in style. The title song is a Jimmy Buffet-esque tune. As Kenny says it's about a way of life. A laid back... enjoying the time you have attitude. This is a fun album. It is a great one to kick back and enjoy on a slow Saturday afternoon.

A whole CD of potential number one hits!,

You know how sometimes you pick up a CD and skip through several songs because you don't care for them very much? Well it won't happen with "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems." Because, quite frankly, there are no problems. Call me a crazy Kenny Chesney fan, but I purchased this CD at 12:01am on the Tuesday that it came out. I have not taken it of my CD Player since. Every song is a potential number one hit. I'm still debating my favorite song...having a hard time choosing between the upbeat title track and the emotional ballad "I Can't Go There". "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" is Kenny's best release to date. You won't be disappointed.

A Great Album from Kenny,
By November (Canada) - See all my reviews

This album by Kenny Chesney is one of the best country albums released during 2002. The first single off of the CD, "Young", was a big hit on country radio, and a great, fun song about growing up that most people can relate to. Also included on this CD is "The Good Stuff", a song about what is important in life."A Lot of Things Different" is about what someone may have done differently, if they had the chance to change things. "Dreams" is about someone looking for that special someone to spend their life with, to grow old with. The title track of the album, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" is another fun, relaxing song. On the bonus track, "I Can't Go There", Kenny sings about a past love and how everything he does and everywhere he goes, he is reminded of the past love. Tim McGraw provides background vocals on the song. There is a great collection of songs on this album; from the more serious, to the upbeat, fun songs. |
