Great for a beginner,

Julie writes for the beginner who is learning the basics of digital photography. She covers many subjects from selecting a camera and computer setup to macro photography and printing. If you have experience with film (or no experience whatsoever) and are switching to digital and have no idea what you are doing, this is a good book for you. If you have a few years of experience, not needing to learn the basics, you might be a bit dissapointed as I was. I recommend the book for the audience that I described as Julie even included "tips" to do things on the cheap, using little known tricks or features.

I absolutly loved this book. It is jam packed with useful information, techniques, and tips. In the center of the book is a color insert of 36 tips. You can find the details to these tips throught the book. Great explination on how to do things with the camera and digital editing. I recomment this book for a beginner all the way to someone who has taken classes and needs to brush up and go a little further with their experiance.

This book does have great information! There is no doubt about that. If you are a beginnner to digital, this would not be a bad book to start with.
With that said, I wish the book had been set up better. It is all black and white which doesn't work well when you are trying to see the difference between various settings. In the middle of the book is a colored section with the example photos in full color, but flipping to that all the time is a true pain in the bum! I did return this book back to Amazon due to my disappointment. For THE BEST book on producing high quality images, I would recommend Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.

This is easily one of the better digital photography books I have bought. It's written well and there are lots of photographic examples. The author's work is very respectable and professional. The only thing that I would have liked more information about is shooting photos for large print at 300 dpi - but the book is a few years old and before 5 MP was common. I am definitely NOT reselling this book! It is staying in my library. I highly recommend it, even if you don't just shoot digital.

It's a great book for people just getting into Digital Photography or switching from film to digital. She explains things very well. I like that she gives her own real life examples and tips on how the pros do it. She also gives you ways to save on equipment.
This book allowed me to review things that I learned and have forgotten and at the same time gave me new ideas.

Through a series of tutorial projects, Julie King's Shoot Like A Pro! Digital Photography Techniques expertly shows just how to light shots, choose the right camera settings, use camera accessories and photographic software, and so much more. Shoot Like A Pro! Digital Photography Techniques deftly explains how to set up a home studio, create a 360-degree panoramic image, work in low light, action photography, black and white, and a great many other professional techniques. This 256-page compendium is very highly recommended for amateur and professional photography instructional reference collections.

Like so many authors, this one tries to cover every aspect of the subject. In so doing, she tends to give subjects I am especially interested in short shrift. But, it is the finest book I have seen on this emerging subject of digital photography. I was not disappointed.
