4.0 out of 5 stars Another great Aussie band, October 25, 2006

While not as good as Jet, another great Aussie band in the same mould. Fans of Jet should look into this band. This is my favourite motor ace albums and best songs on here are Oppurtunity, Keeping secrets, Shoot this, When the feelings gone and of course Carry on, their most famous song. The album sounds good, but they sound much better live. Unfortunately the album doesn't flow from beginning to end, I like to pick out the best songs from all 3 albums and make an album out of that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brillant!, October 8, 2005
This review is from: Shoot This (Audio CD)
Five star laundry is one of my favourite albums of all time and its great that the guys are back with a new record. A little different from the FSL sound but brilliant nonetheless. Well done!

"can't live without music, its all that i breathe.." - pieces

Awesome album from australia's finest :)

4.0 out of 5 stars SHOOT THIS!!!!, November 18, 2003

MA are back again with their second album, "Shoot This", named after track seven. It was their song "Carry On" (1st song on the album) that brought MA to my attention...
Carry On - a change in sound production with orchestral instruments. Has a subtle oriental vibe.
Opportunity - typical MA song. A great song live but doesn't stand out when played back to back with "Carry On" and "Pieces".
Pieces - rock ballad, beautifully sung and played by the guys.
Feathers - by far my fave song on "Shoot This"...love the word-imagery.
Keeping Secrets - another strong song produced by the guys with catchy chorus.
Ride the Wave - Didn't like this song at first. But after MA played this one a few times live, it grew on me.
Shoot This - atypical of MA style. Doesn't sit well with them.
For Yourself -
Where did you go? - dunno why but when I hear this song, I always think it's the last one on the album.
When the day falls -
When the feeling's gone -
"Shoot this" has several noteable songs, but fails to deliver as an album overall, beginning with much promise and ending...well...it sort of pitter-patters out.

Final verdict: good...but not as good as "Five Star Laundry".

4.0 out of 5 stars More great Motor Ace, November 16, 2002
By
This review is from: Shoot This (Audio CD)
I have been a huge fan of Motor Ace and absolutely adored their last CD, 'Five Star Laundry'. So I was very excited when I came across 'Shoot This' the other day. 'Shoot This' is another awesome album, although it only receives 4 stars from me due to the fact that the songs just don't seem as great to me as those I adored so much on 'Five Star Laundry'. Even though I've already heard it dozens of times on the radio my favourite song on the CD is definitely 'Carry On'.

I've just listened to this album for the first time, and I'm writing this while listening to it again. This is a well-played, well-sung, well-produced album; a worthy addition to Five Star Laundry. The backing strings are a nice complement to their rockin' sound. My only disappointment is that I don't seem to have one of the limited edition CD's with the multimedia. But that's ok. The music stands on its own. Now I have two Motor Ace albums to listen to on my hellish commute, which is a good thing.

These guys deserve to make it big in America, if that's what they want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Death!, December 31, 2002

Hey, when i first heard this album i was like um...okay..i should have just brought the smashing pumpkins album i wanted so much...and then after a few hundreds of more listens it got stuck on me like any sexy chick would have been when they saw me do a reverse bow! simply nice! some very violent tunes but understandable. the song shoot this is simply rubbish. they shouldve just made an Ep and not a lp. what a waste of my time! i had better things to do like fill my girlfriends taco with meat and many many more! but an effort not wasted by attempt of the new band it twas. that is great i suppose! i recommend this CD to deaf people!! so they can become un-deaf. the melodies! URGH! too good i love it.
