Great product!,

I have used this product for 4 years now and love it. If you reload then you really need to have a chronograph, their are so many variables involved including things like chamber dimensions that vary from gun to gun so the load manuals aren't always accurate. The F-1 has proven to be accurate and durable (I clipped it with a 223 bullet once that peeled back the metal housing a bit and it still works perfectly) especially for the price. I would recommend setting it up on a cheap tripod so you can easily adjust it to the best height and this will make it very easy to level it on rocky or unlevel terrain. One thing I will mention to the folks who get a lot of errors with this unit, make sure to read the manual, sometimes you want the shade screens up, sometimes you dont. Also you will sometimes get errors when shooting subsonic bullets up close to the unit as the muzzle blast will get to the unit sooner or soon after the bullet does. Also take your time setting it up at the distance recommended in the directions and shoot thru it level and 4 inches above the sensor. Keep in mind at close range to account for the sight being X inches above the barrel!

My chrony is something I wanted and needed, and I am delighted with its performance. I stronly recommend this device to all shooters out there who want to know how their guns are shooting. Louie in San Antonio TX

This chrony is very straight forward and easy to use. To get the most reliable readings, you do have to take in account the lighting conditions. Full sunlight is possible, but better to use the shades when in direct sunlight. Early evening you can use it without the shades and then indoors without any flourescent lighting it works fine.
Make sure to tape or put a marking guide on the rails to help you make sure your barrel of your gun is clearing the bottom of the unit. Don't forget if testing a scoped gun that the barrel does sit quite a bit lower then the scope does. You'll shoot your chrony if you don't have these markers on the rails. Very easy disply to read and you can get the numbers you need right away. I also used the next step up but I found the menu navigation a bit confusing when trying to move from shot group to shot group. So I prefer the simple fps reading and then I can make my own notes and calculations. Highly recommended for nerf darts and air guns as it reads all of them easily.

Could be better,

I have used this chronograph a dozen times and I continue to have a problem with measuring 45 cal. All other calibers register fine, but for some reason 45 cal results in errors almost every time. Tried changing angle, distance, and resetting, still has a problem about 25% of the time.

This is a fun little toy I love it, have mostly used it indoors with some LEDs on top of the photo sensors. I know this is mostly used with firearms/pellet guns but I wish the photo sensors were a little wider, so I could use it with a slingshot/sling-arrow, I mean you can but going over both sensors can take a few tries and you can also hit the posts!! this may be my special need as I hike a lot and been practicing with a slingshot as a backup primitive hunting option (in case I got lost:), so no docked stars for something it was not really meant to do.

Using My New Chrony,

I bought this to test my slingshots. When the opportunity comes up, I will also use it to test my .38 Special handloads. It is easy to use, there is only an On/Off switch. Any standard camera tripod will work or it can be set on top of a box. I do get an occasional erroneous reading. On one occasion it showed me 850 fps from my slingshot, but 99+% of the measurements are within the expected range. It is a great buy and real value for the price, and does everything I expected. I'm pleased.

Chrony was very easy to set up and navigate through each function. Worked great on testing arrow velocity, pellet gun velocity and my 30-06 reloads.

works great, reliable and works great to tune,

I use this to help me tune and calibrate my compound bow. its kind of like having a dyno graph when playing with your car. You really can't see the impact unless you can measure it.
I haven't tried this with a BB gun or the like, but my bows range in speed from 180fps to 305fps. The results are very repeatable. I normally take 7 values and average them. They generally look like 304, 305, 305, , 307, 303 etc... One thing to note is that when using a tripod mount, make sure the unit is folding all the way back. At first it wasn't allowing it to fold all the way back and i was getting 10fps faster than normal results. I also use this in the side of my home which has ample shade except at 12-noon. I don't even use the diffusers and it works great. Danny

My experience has not been as good as the other reviewers. The chrony works well with rifle if the lighting is correct. But I have to move back to an almost unsafe distance to use it with a large caliber hand-gun because of muzzle blast created errors.
