When combined with the maple top, it is the best workbench I have ever owned. I may get another I am so impressed with the solidness of it. The only disappointment is that Grizzly did not offer wheels or a drawer/door combination that could be added.

I bought this as an interim bench based on the one review here on Amazon and seeing it mentioned in a book on setting up a basic shop. The bench is just what I'd expected and needed. Count me as pleased. Now my to my experience. The bench was shipped quickly from the wharehouse north of Seattle quickly enough and I called the shipper so I could pick it up from there depot. When I got there the next day they'd shipped it (2 small boxes totally about 80 lbs) to Portland that morning. A couple phone calls and fumbles on their part the boxes arrived at my house 3 days later severly damaged. I made one call to Grizzly, got one return call from them the next day and had replacement 5 days later. I have to give them a break on the time because the 5 days included Thanskgiving weekend...
So, 5 stars for the table and 5 stars for Grizzly customer service. 2 stars for the shipping company.

I bought these workbench legs to start my first workshop. I wanted to build a bench but had several other project I needed to get to in a new house. I mounted a 30" solid door slab to the leg system and also cut a sheet of MDF for the shelf. The bench is great! Very solid and sturdy and very easy to assemble. I've been very happy with the bench.

I ordered this product with a little apprehension based on other reviewer comments of shipping problems. The product came quickly in two boxes that were damaged. There was no shipping invoice, no parts list, and no assembly instructions. I checked the manufacturers website for assembly instructions...they have many posted online, but none for the leg system. Perhaps the legs are so simple that no instructions exist -- I still don't know. The four large legs came in one box with absolutely no padding...just four steel legs with some cardboard inadequately wrapped around them. The metal flanges at the top had all been bent enough to prevent me from attaching a top to the legs. The bent metal had also caused the paint to flake-off and the metal that used to be covered by paid had rusted...making me think the damage was done long before the shipping company got hold of it. Fortunately, the manufacturer graciously and with no questions asked shipped another set of legs, this time with a different shipping company. I didn't need to return the damaged legs or even provide proof of the damage...hats-off for customer service. The second set of legs were packed by someone else too, with a different but equally bad technique: the four legs were dropped into a large box with lots of shipping popcorn, but no Styrofoam to stabilize the legs during movement...they were not tied to each other either, with the result that they floated loosely in the box, banging into each other, causing significant dents in the sides of the legs. I reasoned that this not just looked unsightly, but weakened the legs as well. However, the legs are so strong that some weakening probably wouldn't affect me, and I was tired of the hassle of calling the company and waiting for shipping trucks, so I accepted the legs damaged and put the table together. Assembly was easy. During assembly I noticed that one of the washers was the wrong size...trip to the hardware store to buy a new washer...not appreciated. After putting the table together, I noticed that the "shop fox" labels (attached to the long stretchers and visible in the product photos) were upside down. The stretchers don't have symmetrical cross section...they have a rabbet to accommodate a shelf as displayed in the product photo...so I couldn't just turn the leg over or swap front and aft stretchers in order to get the "shop fox" sign oriented right side up. Another small blemish to have the signs permanently upside-down...again, not affecting the practical utility of the legs, but forever highlighting the poor quality control. Great product, great product design, great customer service, bad shipping (repeat foul), poor quality control (multiple instances). I got what I needed (a strong table) but was left pretty irritated and feeling somewhat shortchanged.

I also recently purchased these bench legs. They arrived 5 days later and all beat up and bent up. Big chunks of powder coating were missing and the Shop Fox stickers were upside down. I immediately refused the order and told Grizzly to resend the legs packaged differently. They arrived in perfect condition attached to a pallet. You would think that Grizzly would have changed the way that they ship these legs by now. On a positive note - these are very solid legs.

I have to concur with the others. The product is superior in quality and utility. Bar none the best I have owned. However, my experience with the way the product was shipped is the same as the other gentleman. The boxes received were SEVERELY damaged when they were received. Fortunately, the product is of such a durable nature that it did not seem to matter much. BUT, if a vendor of mine sent my product out in tatters, that would be the last product they ever shipped for me. SHOP FOX = good stuff.

When I got home today, I confronted a pile of torn up cardboard and pieces of scratched up metal on my front porch. I can't even begin to imagine how the delivery person got the pieces from the truck to my porch, he (she?) must have taken at least three trips with all the loose pieces. Funny thing is that the delivery person had placed two of the screws that had fallen out of the packaging (if you can call it that) on top of the mess that was supposed to be my delivery. It was actually kind of funny to see it.

I called Amazon and they placed a replacement order for me and scheduled a pick-up as I wasn't planning on taking this mess to UPS (Amazon's service is absolutely awesome).

I can't believe after so many bad reviews and returns this company continues to package their items this way - which by the way, is a single layer of carton with no additional protection or stuffing in it (the pieces of metal weight over 70 lb.) With this packaging, it is virtually impossible to ship this thing without the metal bits and pieces piercing the packaging and getting exposed.

Update: I received the new shipment, and while the box was in better shape (still damaged) I only received 1 box out of the two. Called Amazon again and they shipped me another order and it also arrived in bad shape, although all components were in the boxes for both shipments.
Since many of the pieces were damaged and rusted, I used all three (or 2.5) shipments and picked the best pieces to make one bench, and no matter how much I tried I couldn't make the bench square. The bench is wobbly because the pieces are not welded square. After having spent 1.5 hours to put it together, now I have to spend time to disassemble, repackage and send it back.

If you want sturdy, this bench delivers but otherwise the quality disappoints in every way.

The table system is fantastic, but the shipping is terrible. I do not understand why the manufacturer struggles with such a relatively easy logistical challenge.

When I received the shipment the flanges on most of the pieces were bent. I bent them flat and assembled the unit. For a top I used 1 1/8 plywood. My main problem is that the finished table wobbles and flexes. The problem is in the way the braces bolt to the legs. The threaded inserts in the legs stand proud of the surface of the legs. This allows the flanges on the braces to flex. I got this because I thought, with that much steel, it would be solid as a rock. Once again the Chinese imports have found a way to disappoint.

I had great expectations given the other reviews, maybe I just have bad luck. The legs are painted very nicely and is sturdy. My major complaint is once assembled I could not get anything square. It was then I noticed that there were many parts that were bent and also no square. Once I put everything together the only way to keep everything square was with a clamp, I then screwed the top into the base. Maybe I got a bad batch I don't know I just expected more for the cost.
