Unit advertised as new showed up in a box that had obviously been opened before. Motor would not hold a steady speed even with no load. Motor made strange buzzing sound and seized up entirely within minutes of being turned on. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. I shipped the unit back for a refund on the same day it arrived.

The Shop Fox scroll saw came double-boxed, so there was no damage in shipping. I bought this saw because of the price and because it has a cast iron table, instead of aluminum. Also, it uses blades with or without pins. I have had absolutely no problems with it. I was surprised that it even came with a light bulb.

It arrived in good condition, works well and fits my needs. Did have a little trouble finding additonal blades for my needs, but no reflection on the saw.

Ordered this Jan 05,2012 received Jan 12, 2012. OUTSIDE=No damage to either the shipping box nor the "re-taped" Mfg's box. INSIDE = styrofoam broken up, Dust port (vac' hose) broken off laying loose in the styrofoam. Reported it "damaged due to inappropriate packaging". The damage to the styrofoam surrounding the machine & the re-taped mfg's box led me to believe this may have been opened and returned in the past. Returned it Jan 13, 2012. Requested a refund. 2 stars removed for the apparent poor mfg's packing, re-taping of the mfg's box and the hassle of having to return it instead of using it today.
