Not a good product,
This review is from: Shop & Play - Picnic Shopping Cart Cover (Baby Product)
We purchased this for our 7 mos old son. It doesn't even fit over the entire seating area in the shopping cart! The bars on the side were exposed. These aren't huge shopping carts-normal grocery store ones. I also didn't like that the when the velcro got wet (from a teething baby) the toys would fall off. It also took some time to get it on and situated. I used it more as a highchair cover which I found it to be MUCH better suited for.

Surprisingly easy...not sure why it is not well liked,

Let's face it...this is just a little blanket with leg hole flaps, a strap & buckle and some toys...oh yeah and a watermelon pillow. not fancy and not stylish at all. But considering what I need it to do...I love it.
I have used two other such products and both were annoying. They either didn't fit right or I had to assemble it in order to use it. The problem that I encountered was that I would would be holding my son in the entrance of the supermarket trying to fidget with straps and random little pieces of velcro quickly. All while people are trying to get around me quickly and my kid getting annoyed fast. This one unrolls quickly...you can even leave the watermelon attached and it won't come off (velcro)...which means you just get two tabs (easy) and the whole thing unrolls and you can get the kid in the cart. I leave the strap they provide attached at all times and use it when one isn't available. I like that it doesn't have sides...simply because it means I can reach around and use the straps provided without have to meticulously lace straps through some hole around through the cart and into some other little hole. The toys are nice and basic...nothing mindblowing and that's okay. The most surprising feature is the watermelon pillow. It seemed silly but I used it and found it helped keep my baby stable and comfy (more shopping time). He also has the habit of throwing himself back with force when he is done (perfectly quiet until then) but the pillow helps keep him from banging his head. Also because it is a simple blanket I can use it as an emergency play mat and belly time mat (using the pillow for support if I need) when we are out and about visiting friends etc. I can also use it to change a diaper in a pinch. The pillow can also help with breastfeeding...kinda. (This allows me some latitude in my day to be easy going and spontaneous...kinda) So all in all yes, the lack of sides can be a downside in the middle of the store but nothing a little creative can't fix. (purse and jacket have to go somewhere) Overall a nice product, very easy and quick to use, versatile. The down side: bulky to carry (but keep in mind it can double for a couple things in the bag) You have to wash it instead of wiping it down because fabric (I like it but I can see why it would annoy some other parent) and, keeping in mind the previous, can't be used in a restaurant baby chair (at least I'm not going to but you could if you HAD to)

I have purchased one of these grocery cart covers before and was pleased - that was 5 years ago - now this one was very disappointing!! It only covers where the baby sits and behind her.. it is not big enough to reach all of the handle in front and has absolutely NO coverage on the sides!! I was very disappointed but had to keep it as it came just a day before my daughter and her baby came to visit us in Florida. We ended up using purel all over the rest of the chair!!

I was given this cover for a baby shower gift. Seemed like a great idea at the time. However, it is not as handy as it may seem. First, the cover also "covers" the handle of the cart that YOU are supposed to push, but has nothing to hold it there. It just flops around and gets in the way. Plus, my dirty hands from shopping are forced to get all over the cover that my baby is chewing on/touching. How is that different than the cart itself? Second, the pillow makes the seat awkward. My baby was sitting so far forward that it was uncomfortable for him. Just a bad design. I donated this cover and ended up getting one that is a little better planned out.

This is a great gift for parents that are worried about their children getting germs from the shopping carts (like me). It's cute and adds a little extra padding for our little love ones. You can also use this product laying it flat on the ground for tummy time but I don't think it's wide enough for tummy play. It's not wide enough for a child to roll around.
The downside about this product is that it only covers the front and back but not the sides of the shopping cart seat. The velcro straps that needs to be strapped around the back an front are too difficult to manage while holding your child. It does not fit every shopping cart as well. Overall the Shop & Play is a cute product that does ok when you finally manage to get the straps secured. |
