4.0 out of 5 stars Small package, great power
I used to lug a 16 gallon vac around the garage, just because I wanted all that suction power. But this little guy almost rivals that. It really works great, and as I've always said, sometimes you can't make everyone happy. The power is great, the size perfect, and the price right. It may be a little messy cleaning it out, but I do it over a trash can, and it's fine. I...

I also use the paper sleeves that go over the foam filter, to make cleanup even easier. For around $3 for a pack of 3, they last a long time. I only don't give it 5 stars because the hose is expensive to replace. My wife stepped on our old one and cracked the end. Rather than spend about $15 with shipping on just a hose, I just bought another vac. I had the old one for about 5 years, and it's really been great.

4.0 out of 5 stars mini shop vac, October 29, 2007

Great item but power cord is too short, the intake easily clogs due to the 90 degree bend. Will suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good but some problems, July 19, 2005

Ron "Tool Guy" (Bainbridge Island) - See all my reviews
Mine is about a year old and I think there has been a re-design because some features have changed. Some of this may not be apllicable to the new one.

on the pluse side

-tiny, this thing is super puny and a breeze to cart around

-good suction esp. for it's size.

-not to loud, not >super< quiet, but not bad at all.

-very easy to cart around

I am a contractor and use this for small jobs inside peoples homes, it fits right in the top of my 5 gallon tool bucket.

-did I mention it is tiny, so much less hassle then lugging out the big shop vac

The Bad

the clips to hold bottom to top are not all that great and come apart

the hose attaches in an odd and inconvinient way, and mine came off sometimes until I glued it

the filter is a bit of a pain to clean

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful handheld vacuum, December 2, 2006

This review is from: Shop-Vac 201-1400 Wet/Dry Hang-Up Mini Vac (Kitchen)
This vacuum has as much suction as a larger canister vacuum. It is perfect for cleaning your car or uses in tight areas. It comes with a wall bracket so you can hang it up. It doesn't have any wheels though, which would make this unit perfect. When you first plug it in and turn it on, you will get a smile at how much power this little squirt has.

I suppose it would be great if you have a specialized need to vacuum a small amout of "wet" occassionally, but if you are mainly doing your car or just quick clean-up of dry stuff, consider one of the new higher powered "dustbuster" designes.

In all fairness, at least with this little guy you don't have a battery that stops holding a charge after a few months of use. However, I'm looking to replace both this little annoyance and my can't-hold-a-charge dustbuster with a new design of corded hand vac.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price, May 2, 2009

This review is from: Shop-Vac 201-1400 Wet/Dry Hang-Up Mini Vac (Kitchen)
UPDATE: I have since replaced this Hangup Mini with the shopvac Hangup wet/dry vacuum, which although lacks the wall mount bucket holder (has a side wall holder instead), no hose holder, no parts holder, it does have a much better way of opening the unit AND can be used as a blower. Other than that, they are pretty much both the same even though the HangUp states it has a slightly higher amperage, which I could not really tell the difference in suction.

I have to say that I was quite surprised by the power of this mini Wet/dry shopvac.

I was expecting dustbuster strength, but nothing as powerful as this. I should have known it would have been shop vac strength but certainly did not expect that from such a small unit. Granted the diameter of the hose is very smaller in comparison to a typical shopvac, but still wide enough to pickup dirt, wood chips and small nails & screws.

It sure is noisy though. I would have to wear ear plugs if I was going to use it for prolonged periods of time.

I have to agree with other users that the power cord is just too small. Perhaps Shop Vac decided that if your going to need an extension cord, might as well make the cord small for easy storage. Regardless, you'll have to tag on a few bucks for an extension cord, unless you already have one.

I love the weight of this Shop Vac and both the handle on top and the insert handle on the top base, makes it very easy to hold and vacuum at the same time. You can even decide not to install the top handle is you so desire.

The cubic beveled shape came in very handy for creating a backpack vacuum. I retrofitted an old backpack so that I could vacuum my workshop & even house with this shop vac on my back. It's so light and easy to maneuver this way compared to buying a similar backpack vacuum that costs well over $1000. Try it, you'll see how much easier it is to vacuum and it fits within most daypacks (Just make sure that their is an exhaust).
Last, I read on one of the posts that some people are using these for their RV's or trucks with a transformer. Although it uses less power than a typical shop Vac, it looks like your still going to need a 1500 watt inverter, rather than a 750-1200 watt power inverter. Just an FYI.

The reason I gave this review 4 stars is because I took off one star for the Noise (damn it's loud) and another for the short powercord, short hose, and the lack of a typical Shop Vac hose exhaust outlet. I have no clue why they did not add a hose exhaust outlet, as it certainly would have been a benefit to use it as a blower.

5.0 out of 5 stars shop-vac hang-up mini, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Shop-Vac 201-1400 Wet/Dry Hang-Up Mini Vac (Kitchen)
I think the mini-hang-up is great. It is very small but I live in an apartment so it's perfect. I actually needed it to suck a pearl earring out of the bathroom drain. I couldn't even see the earring anymore but it popped right out (along with some other gross stuff) from just holding the hose over the drain. I emptied it and changed the filter and then sucked up a ton of cat hair along the baseboards in the hallway---and I just vacuumed with the regular vac yesterday. You will need an extension cord if you plan on moving around at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little Lifesaver, September 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shop-Vac 201-1400 Wet/Dry Hang-Up Mini Vac (Kitchen)
I bought this little wet vac to deal with the results of a leaky air conditioner. The gulper nozzle works beautifully to clean up liquids. What's more, the dust nozzle works better on dry carpet than my old Dust Buster ever did. The tank holds about a gallon of liquid, and the nozzle will simply stop suction when it's full, so there's no danger of overflowing it. My only complaint about the Shop Vac Mini is that the hose leaks when you turn off the power. This can be corrected by holding up the hose before you hit the power button, so that gravity ensures no leakage. It would be nice not to have to take that extra step, but if taking that step is keeping the price down I'll accept it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk, December 26, 2006
By
I owned one of these for about a week. The tank falls off easily, as will all Shop Vac products; the hose has to be glued on, and all the plastic cheapness is not worth the decent motor and suction. Filters cost a fortune for this tiny nothing.
