5.0 out of 5 stars Decent Shop-Vac depending on how much you pay !!
I bought this shop vac after reading reviews on the Shop-Vac Hang-Up and the Hang-On, which made it seem as though the Hang-Up model would be a hassle to empty out when it filled up, and also the way the hose attached was less than desirable, needing to be removed to empty the container. Supposedly the Hang-On is a newer, better design. The hose attaches/detaches easily,...

2.0 out of 5 stars 1.5 gal is more than a little misleading
I suspect the tank on this vacuum probably would hold a gallon and a half, but what they don't tell you is that it looks like they use the same filter they put in their larger vacuums. It takes up almost all of the tank space in this one. There can't be more than a half inch around the outside of the filter. That said, I have found it useful; I just have to empty the...

The hose attaches/detaches easily, and doesn't have to be disconnected to empty the container. After using it today for the first time, it worked exactly as I needed it to. I needed a small Vac to clean a pet cage, and this one was easy to pick up and move around with while vacuuming. Suction was enough to easily pick up bits of food and litter in our ferrets cage, making the job easy. When done, it easily emptied in our trash can with no problems. As for the price, currently AMAZON's price is $[...], which would be a bit much for this model as it is small, and you could find one of the larger models for not much more in price. However I wanted the smaller model for portability, and found it at [...] for $[...], upon going to my local store it was on the shelf for $[...]! Shop around, this is a very good Vac for the lesser price, but I wouldn't pay $[...] for it.

I wanted to replace a large full sized shop vac that I never use with a smaller more portable model, this is perfect. It is very light weight, hangs on the wall, and even has to option of ordering regular vacuum type bags, making it easier to empty. I bought the ocnversion kit convert it to 2" hoses so I can use my loger hose from my original shop vac as well as the mini kit for getting in small crevices like keyboards or under car seats. The blower part is extremely powerful as well and the noise is not too bad. Great construction and design.

A small lightweight Shop Vac, with powerful suction, that is ideal for small jobs. The only minor problems, in my opinion, are an electric cord that is too short, and the apparent unavailability of a longer suction hose, or extension hose. I have to use the two wand extensions from my Hoover to extend the reach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Survivoring home improvements, November 5, 2010
This review is from: Shop-Vac 2012400 1.5-Gallon 1.5-Peak HP HangOn Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
My reasons for rating is: I do like the machine. However it does not extract 1.5 gallons as mentioned. The inner sponge and machine takes some of the space. I purchased this vacuum based on the great reviews. I needed it after a heavy rain. It is a small and powerful machine. It sucks up the water quite nicely. The cons: It only vacuums 2 quarts (9-10 seconds....yes I timed it for this review)before it is time to dump the water from the bucket and start vacuuming again.

This machine is probably perfect for tiny wet vacuuming jobs or small dry jobs. But, don't expect to get the full 1.5 gallon capacity that is labeled.

I'm returning this machine in the morning and will check out a different machine.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive capacity, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Shop-Vac 2012400 1.5-Gallon 1.5-Peak HP HangOn Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this item for the purpose of unclogging my air conditioning drain pipe and also for flushing the air conditiong drain pan. It actually turned out to be very useful for this purpose. The only reason I didn't give a higher rating is because although the capacity is adevertised as 1.5 gallons you can only suck up about a half a gallon before the unit automatically shuts off the suction (due to a float detection system). So although the physical container size may be 1.5 gallons, only about 0.5 gallons of water can be vacummed at a time. Therefore, I was constantly emptying the unit after a few seconds of use.

I bought this smallest version of the shop vac, because it was reviewed as a much better product than the one just a step larger than this (although I had originally wanted a larger one). I am renovating a property and needed a shop vac for my drywall sander. I had to clean the dry filter about every 10 minuted. This was time consuming an frustrating. The second day I tried to use it the motor completely went dead on me. I trashed it, went to Home depot and bought a 5 gallon shop vac, that is sooo much better. I love this one (and it was actually a few bucks more.)

1.0 out of 5 stars Crap product, August 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shop-Vac 2012400 1.5-Gallon 1.5-Peak HP HangOn Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
For a ShopVac, this is an incredibly flimsy machine. It has poor suction and is not in the least bit durable or rugged as a ShopVac brand would suggest. When in use and it tips over, it completely shuts off so that you have to remove the nossel, replace, then switch back on. What a waste of time. The filter system is ridiculous and unnecessarily messy and user UNfriendly.
I hate this product.
