I have had a lot of shop vacs over the years, including 2 ridgid (5 and 6.5 hp). I currently use a Makita (which runs, with the hepa filters, about $750 and is rated for lead paint cleanup etc.)

I use this shop vac for basic cleanup around the garage and driveway, while I use the Makita for dust extraction with hand held power tools due to the smaller hose but better filtration. This shop vac is one of the few left that has a 2.5 inch hose and is able to suck up larger debris. The power is excellent, and compared to the ridgid I've had in the past, it's much less top heavy and less likely to fall over. I think the 20 gallon version might be more top heavy - it seems to be the same but taller.

I use a cleanstream hepa filter in it. I also use the yellow fine particulate bags. It seems like bags will cost you more money, but they end up saving you money - as they catch a lot of stuff that will clog your filter up rapidly and reduce suction, requiring a pricey new hepa filter. 2 stage filtration is definitely the way to go, not to mention the ease of simply taking a bag out of the vac and dropping it in the trash.

The seal between the vac is better than the ridgid but still not perfect. I added some weather stripping in the channel to act as a gasket. Remember that even if thee filter is hepa, the vac still probably isn't - the seal of the vac itself isn't good enough to be used for dangerous things like crystalline silica (e.g. concrete and stone grinding), asbestos, lead paint, or other highly toxic particulate matter. I don't really do those things anyways, and if I did, I'd use the Makita or a similar hepa rated vac.

The included accessories work well. There are 2 wands, a hose (2.

I am impressed with the quality of this vac. I wouldn't exactly call it "quiet" but compared to those loud clunky orange or red vacuums - this one is "quiet". It comes with great attachments and accessories. It works very well in our commercial environment. I hope it lasts long - but so far so good!

I own a business that relys on an industrial vacuum system. The motor for the pump recently burned out and I had to wait 10 days for a replacement motor. My vacuum system has an emergency shunt which allows me to attach a shop vac to keep the business functioning. My shop vac ran for 10 days for 12-14 hours per day continually. It worked great. I expected the shop vac to fail. After all, it was not engineered to run continually for all those hours. But, it did just fine. I was amazed at the hardiness of this machine. What an incredible machine!

This is a great starter package for most people. I, however, will be ordering the 2 1/2" to 1 1/4" reducer to use the more abundant 1 1/4" hoses for home cleaning, but the 2 1/2 is better for cleaning larger debris. These wet/dry vacuums are worth their weight in gold, because they take the abuse that most domestic vacuums could not.

I use it for my dust collection system alone with the Dust Deputy from Oneida, which I also purchased from Amazon, works great for my small shop and very mobile.
