First, let me point out that I'm not a contractor. I'm a homeowner with a big, dirty garage and the owner of 2 frequently dirty cars. I needed something that could handle seriously dirty floors, walls, spills, car floors and anything else I could throw at it outside of the house. And, I needed to be able to do it fast and easily.

In short, this machine fit the bill perfectly. I don't have any complaints about it. It came w/ a huge vacuum bag, hose, accessories and it was easy to assemble. It has amazing sucking power and is very easy to move around. It's probably more machine than I need for my purposes, but I'm not complaining at all.

To sum up: It's an extremely nice machine for a very nice price. I seriously doubt you'd be disappointed.

I have been infinitely pleased with this unit. It is well made, surprisingly quiet, extremely powerful, and a great value for the price. Our basement just flooded (too much rain & snow). This unit can pick up about 10+ gallons of water in about 30+ seconds ... from standing water only about 1/4" to 1/2" deep. Although having your basement flood is not fun, having this wet/dry vac almost made the experience tolerable. Almost.

Regarding the dry stuff ... sucking up saw dust in the shop is a trivial job for this baby. I always feel good about having purchased a well-engineered tool. And this vac definitely makes me smile.

Con's: The utility bucket doesn't fit the accessories

ShopVac wrote the book on wet/dry vacuums. This little beauty is no exception. I received one as a gift... I liked it so much I purchased another.... I'll keep this one at camp. The power and unusually quiet motor make an effective tool for cleaning up a wet or dry mess. I recommend it!

This Wet/Dry Vac is the best shop vac I have ever owned. Make sure you are waching what your picking up with it. Everything goes in but does not come out. 5.0 horse power will pull the paint off the neighbors house. Great unit, get one you will love it.

I've used various and many brand-name vacuums in my workshops for 35 years. The Contractor Shop-Vac as well as the 6.5 HP Industrial models can't be beat. I use both. Buy stainless only if the job requires it. They are the best quality and value on the market. Every feature gets 5 stars. After using my first Shop-Vac, I gave away 2 other brand-name models that were less than 5-years old and bought Shop-Vacs.

Works fine when it is working. Mine is now broke for the 3rd time in 6 months. The on off switch keeps going bad. This Vac gets very light use around the house and in the cars. The original bag is not half full yet. The first time it quit the store replaced the Vac. The second time SHOPVAC Corp sent a new motor assembly which you have to install with a special star drive bit. You cannot replace just the switch assembly. They expect you to pay shipping back but demand a free pickup and shipping label. I emailed them about this third dead switch 2 weeks ago and have not heard back from them yet. Always trusted ShopVac but will never buy another.

Excellent vacuum works even better outside picking up all leaves, dirt, birdseed that gets dropped outside on the concrete

I had an old shopvac that was very noisy but worked great. After many years, I decided to upgrade, sold it to a friend cheap, and went out to buy the latest and greatest from shopvac.

While the new shopvac is much quieter, the suction is nowhere as powerful as my old one (which had comparable horsepower rating). I wish shopvac would publish more useful ratings like CFMs. The new design is flawed in a few areas. The top locks on with only two latches which don't hold well enough when the vacuum is full of heavy liquid. The tool caddy is poorly designed.

Overall, I wish I had my old shopvac back. I will probably look to a different manufacturer next time.

I bought this product some time ago, and have absolutely loved it. I use it every day in my dog kennel, and it is a workhorse. In fact, I'll buy another one when this one goes out! Very reliable and easy to use!

Be warned that this shop-vac is large. I live in a New York City townhouse, and find that it is too unwieldy to carry up and down the stairs. I was happy to have its large capacity when our basement flooded during a rain storm; BUT when it was filled with water, it was too heavy to take anywhere to empty out! (My kids scooped out the water from the tank into buckets, and we ran up and down the stairs that way, like the sorcerer's apprentice!) It's got good suction and is definitely a powerful machine, but is much too much for smaller spaces or where you need to carry it around.
