5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!!!
This Shop-Vac is wonderful! It came with many accessories, and this vacuum is really powerful. I am replastering the walls in my house, and with the shop-vac running in the room, the dust level has been considerably lowered. As for the wet-vac, our basement flooded recently, and we removed about 60 gallons of water in no time. An excellent product, and easy to use...

I am happy I bought this vac. There are some problems that have been plaguing these vacs for years which keeps me from giving it a five star rating. The attachments are consistently coming out of the hose and the hose is constantly pulling away from the vac. Recently, when we had two heavy rain days in a row - my basement pump quit working & the water rushed into the my book storage rooms. I have an online bookstore with over 30,000 books in storage. This would have been a nightmare had it not been for the Shop-Vac 962. Not only did it vac up the water - it did is so fast that my books were saved from being damaged. Thank you!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dont bother with a Hoover, Eureka or any house brand, June 24, 2005

In view of better value for money, I chose this Commercial Vac. I'm thoroughly impressed... I use it as a Home vac and it saved me the miseries that the other home brands normally come with. I guess What's good for a professional is good for home use as well... it has amazing power and is very easy to use. maintenance of the product is cheap and simple.

I am happy I bought this vac. There are some problems that have been plaguing these vacs for years which keeps me from giving it a five star rating. The attachments are consistently coming out of the hose and the hose is constantly pulling away from the vac. The hose itself is made from a material that is slightly harder than it needs to be to keep it from collapsing (due to the suction) and can develop hairline cracks in it over time. In the vacuums defense, however it is stored in very cold temperatures outside in the shed. I suggest buying a role of duct tape with it. The power cord should be a slightly heavier gage wire as it does get quite warm. Still with these flaws and the fact it will be difficult to do better (for the price), I am happy I bought this vac.

I just received this Shop Vac and at first I was disappointed. After setting it up, I turned it on and had very little suction. I soon discovered that the top of the unit had been damaged in shipment. There was a chunk of plastic broken out of the top of the unit. Since I needed it for an immediate project, I took the broken out piece and epoxy glued it in place and let it set overnight. The next day I turned it on and wow! Very powerful suction. I installed the special cement dust/drywall dust bag and went to work. When attached to my drywall sander it picked up 99% of the drywall dust and it is relatively quite for a unit this size.
My concerns are 1. The instruction sheet was very poor - referencing installation and set up parts that were not for this model and 2. The plastic housing is very thin and could crack or break in the future.
Overall, I am fairly impressed and hope it will be dependable for years to come.

I've never had a shopvac before, but was tired of dropping $2 in the carwash vacuum and then stressing out about when the time was going to run out. The assembly out of the box took about 20 minutes and came with all of the accessories that I will ever need.

The vacuum has tremendous suction... the kind that reaches out and grabs the palm of your hand when you hold it close. It's been great to deep clean carpets, and really handy to have sitting in the garage next to the cars for quick cleaning. The hose, attachments, and the unit itself are bigger than I expected for the price. The rolling casters are great to move it around, and the hose and power plug are good lengths.

Two things I wish were better... the attachments awkwardly stick on this black collar on the back of the unit. I can't really tell where things were designed to go (no instructions) and they don't lock into place or feel secure after putting them there. I also wish the main hose had somthing to hold it in place after use so it didn't flop around so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Big Bumble Bee Works Great, December 10, 2007
This review is from: Shop-Vac 962-16-00 16-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've been using this shop vac as a builder for 4 years now after seeing my painters work so well I bought one for myself. For as much air as this moves it is really quiet, I'm amazed at the noise levels some vacs create. This Shop Vac has always worked great.

My main reason for writing this review is to let anyone who owns this know that the Use of a Bag Is A Must when using the beast as a dry vac.

It astounds me that a certain vac brand whose name rhymes with frigid and is sold at certain orange themed home stores do not offer a bag option, if you rely on only the canister filter, you lose suction very quickley, then you must empty out the container of dust into or onto something, and blow off the canister filter, what a freakin mess.

Pull out the full bag, toss into the trash, put in a new bag, long suction life. Use Bags U Fools! :)

Peace to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't live without my ShopVac, September 20, 2007

A teenage son, five large long-haired dogs, and a rural country home -- these three things combined have been the cause of death for a couple of my vacuum cleaners. I bought a 6HP ShopVac about five years ago, and I doubt I'll ever vacuum or sweep again with anything BUT my ShopVac. I haul out my ShopVac and suck up everything that's not fastened down! Dirt and leaves, cobwebs (with spiders), dog hair and dust bunnies, candy wrappers, an occasional dirty sock (gotta watch out for that, these ShopVacs have great suction), and even a UFO or two (Unidentified Fallen Object). A house that's going to have a lot of pets, children or located in a rural area should be sold with a ShopVac as part of the escrow. Forget diamonds - ShopVac is a girl's best friend. Seriously, I highly recommend this unit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not all Acc in pic/description included., May 6, 2007

This review is from: Shop-Vac 962-16-00 16-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
In the description it say, 14" Squeegee Insert, That is not included. It has a floor nozzle but its very obvious it was never meant for a rubber squeegee insert. It also doesnt come with a foam filter for liquid use and it shows it in the picture and description. I only knocked off 1 star for this but I noticed other reviews saying these were missing as well and this should be addressed and the description changed accordingly. Other than that, I really like the model. It has alot of suction, And I use it regularly to suck up wax and stripper off the floor stripping floors professionally. I have used a shop-vac like this one for over 5 years professionally and is still going strong only replaced because I didnt own it myself and it had to go with the owner. I have never known any to wear out internally, as in brushes in the motor, ect. I suggest getting a model that has metal wheel casters like this one since the plastic casters will eventually break if used industrially. Even then, Be careful with the plastic housing that the wheels snap into, if used industrially and several people use it, this will eventually start breaking apart. [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for drywall (among other things), September 4, 2008
This review is from: Shop-Vac 962-16-00 16-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this after realizing the very expensive ($300-$800) drywall vacuums use the same dust collection principle and have similar power (based on amp draw). I added a HEPA filter, drywall dust collection bag, and used inexpensive Hyde screen sanders and the job was dust free. After the drywall project, I cleaned up fine sawdust in my shop and vacuumed out the wood stove ashes while I was at it. Absolutely no dust escaped the bag and the inside of the vacuum was as clean as the day I received it. I am 100% satisfied and would recommend this product.
