The vacuum works well when it works. I too had a kinked hose(other reviewer had same problem) due to poor packaging. I called the factory and they sent me a new hose no questions asked. The factory person did not care that they had a packaging problem... It also came with a defective caster and it too was replaced no questions asked.

After a few months of light use, it would not start reliably. I took it apart and found the plastic switch button was not designed to allow full depression of the switch under it. I had to grind away some plastic to allow full stroke of the button. Now it works again.

WARRANTY- be warned: IT IS NOT WARRANTED FOR 10 YEARS - ONLY THE MOTOR ITSELF carries that warranty. THE MOTOR CONTROLLER AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS ONLY WARRANTED FOR 1 YEAR. SHAME ON AMAZON FOR CONTINUING TO ALLOW THE ADVERTISEMENT SAYING 10 YEAR WARRANTY! I had already contacted Amazon about this roughly 6 months ago.

NOISE: I have a decibel meter and found the vacuum runs in the 80-85 DbA range - not horrible - better than many. OSHA allows 85 decibel for 8 hour exposure for a reference.

HOSES: NO 1-1/4" HOSE INCLUDED OR any 1-1/4" ATTACHMENTS. Again Amaazon has been told about this error 6 months ago!

The build quality is about the same as the cheap disposable shop vac products sold by Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, and such. The plastic body turns white under the force of bolting on the metal handle bar. The plastic wheels are held on the axle by push on caps. The inlet port baffle clogs easily, and when removed, liquid and mud fly straight onto the filter. The hose was kinked by careless packing. The thing is no more ready for a job site than any other cheap shop vac, and the lift to empty it is awkward for one man. The performance is better than the cheap shop vac products at the "Big Box" stores, almost as good as a real commercial grade shop vac. At the $ 250 sale price, the 962-20-00 SR is between the cheap shop vacs and the commercial shop vacs in cost and performance. If you are on a budget and need a cheap shop vac, you would do well to pay just $ 100 more and get the better performance and motor warranty this model offers.

A little on the expensive side but well worth the extra money. You can buy the lower priced Shop Vac models at the big chain stores and you get exactly what you pay for. The new long life motor does an excellent job on this vac. We use this in the maintenance department in a commercial building and we are very hard on shop vacs. This one rates an A+.
