I also like the fact that it is on wheels for easy mobility.

If you add more water as you are cleaning it dilutes the debris and you can go longer between dumps, since the pump work rather well in other circumstances.

After that, the next 15 to 30 gallons in various low spots in the basement were almost fun to deal with.

Every Spring comes the "water in the basement" drill and it lasts a month or so. Shop vac floor, empty into pails and lug up the stairs to empty. Now, with this machine and a 100 ft. hose leading up to the first floor and out the garage, the bucket business is over. It pumps faster than I can vac (water is maybe max 1/4 in. deep at any time) and has made the whole process, while still not a joy, certainly much easier and faster (also less cussing). I have used it twice a day for 30 min. or so each time for the past 40 days. A few notes: the assembly instructions are not what I'd call user friendly so it took longer than necessary to figure out the wet vac operation. Also, the hoses come apart a bit too easily. These are small compared to its advantages and a very reasonable cost.

Basement floods after heavy rains. This last rain basically flooded it all with 3-4 inches throughout. This is a miracle for my back. No more dumping into buckets (using a 3 gallon shop-vac) and hauling outside. Just attach a garden hose and takes no time at all. Until i can get a permanent fix for the flooding, this makes life much easier. Product works as described.

I have owned this for about a year, cleaning out several fountains and small ponds each month. The sucking power is great. But I have a few complaints. The reason I got this is the "built-in pump" that will send water out after the tank is full. This works so-so. Sense it only comes on "automatically" when it senses the tank is full, it sometimes fails to work properly. I have to hold the power button on or the auto-shut off will kill the vacuum. This happens about half the time. Annoying. I wish they had just put an on/off button for turning on the pump. Also, they made the clips that hold the top part to the tank very weak -- if the tank has water in it and you lift the vacuum up, the clips pop off and you end up holding just the top part of the unit... usually spilling water everywhere. Annoying. The tool caddy is useless -- such as if you wrap the cord around where they want it to go, you can't take the top part off and on without tangling in the cord. Even with its annoying "features" this vacuum really sucks (in a good way) and thus I am glad to have it.

I run a custom woodworking shop and have several types of vacuums for the space, including several that cost hundreds of dollars. The Shop Vac works great, is easy to assemble, and very reasonably priced.

If you are interested in a vacuum for your garage that is going to pick up most anything on your floor, this unit is well worth considering. There are a couple of things that I find annoying; they would not be deal breakers to me, but they could be for others. First, the instructions are missing a parts list and a parts diagram. Admittedly there aren't many parts, but it would be nice to see a diagram instead of having to read through the users manual (just like the one you can download from the Shop-Vac website). Second, the tool holder is pretty flimsy. It stayed on my vacuum for maybe a half-hour and then went into the recycling bin. The tools are just too big to be held by that particular tool holder. I don't know why these things grated on my nerves...maybe I'm just getting too cranky.

I purchased this vacuum for use in our shop. We have had sand business so we burn through vacuums. This one works so great and really picks of the sand and rocks. Great product.

Actually purchased this vac for a specific job, and it couldn't have worked out better. My underground well storage tanks needed cleaning, part of this process involved vacuuming out the remaining water in the tank. After connecting the attachments and garden hose, I was able to clear up all the remaining water without ever lifting the Shop-Vac out of the well. The pump worked great. Keep in mind I used a "Superior Pump 91250 1/4 HP Thermoplastic Submersible Utility Pump" to get the tanks down to a level where I could then vacuum up the remaining water. I never expected this vacuum to suck a foot of water out of the tanks.

As for dry vacuuming, that works great as well. It comes with all the attachments I need, and is very quiet. This replaced an older Craftsman wet/dry vacuum that I needed hearing protection to operate. Very happy with this purchase!

Received my new Shop-Vac a few days ago. First task was to put it together & study the instructions and... empty & clean out a deep portion of my pond in back yard. Amazing how it pumps water out a hose as it sucks up water from the pond, all at the same time; I had expected it to be a 2 step process, but no, it is done simultaneously! Just place the garden hose (provided by you) where you want the water transferred & it is all done seamlessly! Hopefully I won't have to use it on my basement if a water disaster happens down there, but I will have a clean pond whenever I want!
