3.0 out of 5 stars Healthy Living
The author of this book epitomizes healthy living! While I may not be as rigid as this author, the book was very informative, and I am taking small steps to follow some of the guidelines.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
The book Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living is an easy 4 to 5 hour read that is simple enough to be comrehended by kids such as myself. This book has improved my health to the point that I am improving my preformance in sports, not getting sick, losing weight, and healing 8 times faster from any inury I have encountered. Without this book, I would most likely be a little fat, covered with zits, sick anytime I touch something and playing sports like I was a weakling. So I thank the author of Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living for not only changing my life in positive way, but helping me influence people around me to live a healthier life so the next american generation can be a strong one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the phases, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
This book does such a great job of tackling the seemingly overwhelming task of cleaning up what we take into our bodies by offering phases of what to eliminate from our diet as well as the rest of our lives. The author also gives a great deal of information on why we shouldn't ingest certain things, but at the same time seems pretty laid back and even gives a FANTASTIC chocolate chip cookie recipe that my family devours in one afternoon. And by the way, this recipe isn't healthy which is why I love this book. This author understands that we all need an occasional naughty sweet fix. Thumbs up to this one! I would like to get a hold of the author's cookbook!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Info, March 28, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
This was very well stated and to the point (we need more of that). It is in line with everything that I have read on the subject over the last few years. The one thing I was suprised that the author did not have in the book was a recommendation to avoid personal products that contain any form of petroleum (maybe missed it). Based on what I've read, this is actually a carcinogen. Don't let that stop you from getting the book though. Everything else was on the money!

Easy and fast to read. I like the convenience of the tear out shopping lists. I also like it when someone else does all of the research for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Especially recommended for novice housewives (and house-husbands), April 4, 2008
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
In our current climate of rising costs and an economic recession, making a dollar stretch as far as possible in support of a healthy lifestyle takes more than just wishful thinking. It takes a consumer resource like Kathy Loidolt's "Shopper's Guide To Healthy Living". This is a 105-page compendium of information, advice, tips, techniques, resources, and lists for what to get and how to get it when it comes to shopping wisely and successfully on a budget for everything from skin care products, to bug spray, to groceries, to perfumes and more! Of special note are the 'tear out' shopping lists that are provided ready-made for the reader and not only note what to get -- but what to avoid as well! The section devoted to 'Recipes for Healthy Living' range from Whole Grain Pancakes and Homemade Pancake Syrup, to Healthy Oatmeal Cookies and Whole Grain Spelt Bread. The "Shopper's Guide To Healthy Living" is especially recommended for novice housewives (and house-husbands), as well as anyone else wanting to use their financial resources to the best effect in support of a healthy home and a wholesome lifestyle for themselves and their loved ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone needs to read this book!, June 12, 2008
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
This book has opened my eyes and educated me on all the harmful things we put into our bodies and on our skin, through the food we eat and the products we use. I love that it gives simple and practical ways to start living healthier, one phase at a time. The author helps you ease into the process by giving advice on what to stop purchasing and what to buy instead. She has personally made these changes in her own life and with her family and discusses in the book how it can be hard at first but that your body will get used to it. I have been telling all my friends and family about this book and would recommend it to everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical tips for a mother of 2, June 11, 2008
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
This book is an easy read, I liked that not only did this book talk about food but other household items and personal products. As a mother of 2 children under 3 I love the shopping guide and found it particularly helpful as it gave me ideas on foods/brands to buy and try with my kids without me having to pour over packets of food in the supermarket and wonder if what I am feeding my family is actually good for them. Also, for anyone who loves cookies - the recipes in the back are worth buying the book for even if you don't care about healthy products!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK!, April 14, 2009
By
KPNFaith "KPNFaith" (Colorado Springs, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living (Paperback)
I just wanted to commend Kathy for putting the time and effort into the creation of this valuable book which helps others in their quest to have a healthier lifestyle. I met her at a free seminar that she had in Colorado Springs, CO. and was drawn to her positive attitude, her willingness to help others, and her spiritual message! She is so right that God did not design our bodies to be infested with the poisons that manufacturers knowingly place in so many products we use today....all for profit! By re-directing our focus and making changes in our diets, we can make huge changes in our lives! Hats off to Kathy for her brave approach to identifying the culprits that deceivingly gives more than the consumer signed up for, and for showing us how to take control back in our lives! She is a true God send!
