Styrofoam - A Short Album About Murder, March 1, 2011
This review is from: Short Album About Murder (Audio CD)
A SHORT ALBUM ABOUT MURDER, Styrofoam's second, begins with more percussive force: "No Matter What" skitters with snares and digital blipping. "It's Just That We Don't Show It" has a miniscule hip-hop sample, used Prefuse73 style in a drawling synth landscape. And even though most of the vocals on "Bad Night is Falling" are obscured by the music, what we can hear of them at the very end is rather disturbing. But "If You Tell Me the Truth I Will Kill You" keeps its disturbing elements in the title only; its cello-infused body is more sad than psychotic. And the final track, "By Anybody Else I Mean You," manages to even strike a romantic tone. And if anything leads to murder, I supposed it'd have to be that.
