This review is from: Short Bike Rides in North Carolina (Short Bike Rides Series) (Paperback)
I've been generally pleased with the book. After trying a couple of the rides, I found the book very useful in mapping out a short, interesting and enjoyable ride. I wish the author was more consistent about indicating features that charged an admission fee. For example, in the Southport to Orton Plantation ride, Wallace notes the admission fee to the Southpoint Maritime Museum, but fails to note the admission fee to Orton Plantation. I was very happy to see the Hyde County ride, but a little disappointed that there wasn't a ride covering the northern Outer Banks.
These minor reservations aside, I've been very happy with the book and plan to try many more of the rides.

Duplicate Book!!, August 31, 2003

Do not buy this book and Road Biking North Carolina. Out of the 41 rides in this book, 25 are near duplicates of those in Road Biking NC. Another 6 have been replaced by longer versions. Giving author's statement "What a difficult Task - selecting only forty-one rides for this book. There could easily have been twice that many.", the duplication (including most of preface & introduction) is a travesty.
