4.0 out of 5 stars Sound Fundamentals and Advise
Almost any golfer will agree that the `short game' is one of the most important parts of the game; if you hit a bad drive you can still recover, but if you miss a shot with your 8-iron or wedge, you've lost a stroke. Most golfers (even the pro's) would agree that Tiger Woods' short game is better than most, even those same pro's. This book isn't magically going to make...

I've been trying to figure John Andrisani out. My first look was THINK LIKE TIGER and now THE SHORT GAME MAGIC OF TIGER WOODS... Well I think I have finally pegged Mr. Andrisani: He's the unofficial president of the Tiger Woods fan club. Like THINK LIKE TIGER, SHORT GAME MAGIC is far too much about Andrisani's regard for his hero and nothing special when it comes to...

Like THINK LIKE TIGER, SHORT GAME MAGIC is far too much about Andrisani's regard for his hero and nothing special when it comes to the subject: improving your short game.

Sure, the fundamentals are there but presented in the same way as of a variety of similar books by other golfers. The thing that you have to remember about Tiger is that his short game becomes moot because his long game makes it all possible. Whereas a pitch shot of any of us earth-bound mortals is 70 yards and in, For Tiger a pitch shot may be as long as 150 yards. HELLO!

Want a great book about the short game? Go with GETTING UP AND DOWN, the short game masterpiece by the undisputed king of the short game Tom Watson.

2.0 out of 5 stars golf short game by wood, May 12, 2007

check print date before buying. Tiger changed his swing completely after this book. Still a good value but a little dated.

This book isn't magically going to make you play like Tiger Woods next time you're out on the course, but it will give you a bit of insight on some good things to practice to help you improve your playing and lower your score. It does a good job describing why certain shots work the way they do, and where and how to use them effectively. There are four sections, pitching, chipping, sand, and putting, that explain several of the different types of shots that Tiger has been known to pull out of the bag and use in situations you might find yourself in next time you play. Each section includes several tips on how to handle bad situations and concludes with a set of suggested exercises for improving techniques relating to the chapter. Many of the situations, and even some of the shots, are fairly simple and/or commonplace, but they will all contribute to your developing a creative insight as to what you might be able to accomplish when you hit the ball yourself. Have you ever pitched over a building in the middle of a city, or putted on a gymnasium floor?
