I was very disappointed in this guidebook. The pictures and descriptions of hikes were muddy, and the selection of hikes limited to just the very easiest. My wife and I are in our 40's and not in the best of shape, but we wanted more challenging and beautiful options than were listed in this book. This book might be OK for those who are truly limited in hiking ability -- say, no more than 4-5 miles and very limited elevation changes. We bought this and "Day Hiking North Cascades" by Craig Romano Day Hiking North Cascades: Mount Baker, Mountain Loop Highway, San Juan Islands hoping one or the other would be a winner -- and Romano's book hit the mark while this one, "Best Short Hike" missed.

It has all the basic informaiton in it, but the writing is often vague and incomplete.

We've used this for a few years, but packed it away somewhere. Couldn't wait for it to show up so got a second copy. We use it every time we hike. Highly recommend it. First book you look at when you want to get your boots on the trail.
