The Power and Responsibility of Being Aware,
By
This review is from: The short life of Sophie Scholl (Hardcover)
THE SHORT LIFE OF SOPHIE SCHOLL contains information essential to the survival of the human spirit. It is difficult to fathom how a very young woman could stand up to a whole wall of brutality and barely whince. How she could walk to her death at age 21 because she would not or could not compromise her sense of right. Sophie's belief in justice and compassion and humanity was stronger than all the military might raised to silence her. This book challenges us all to stand against injustice and brutality. There is perhaps no more important act we can achieve than to force ourselves to be as aware as Sophie was. Only then can prejudice and cruelty and injustice be stilled. This is a powerful work with an amazingly powerful message.
