Editorial Reviews

Matt Moffitt, leader of Australian group Matt Finish died in his sleep in Sydney. His classic song "Short Note", from the album of the same name, formed part of the backdrop of contemporary Australia in the late 1970's and into the 1980's.

I love this album. It was the soundtrack to my life hanging out in Sydney in the early eighties. There were so many great pub bands to see in those days - Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil. I can't say much more than the last reviewer but this CD is must have if you like Aussie '80's music. It's a real classic. Whenever I play it, one thing that really stands out is that every note and drum fill in every song has a place just like a great painting. Nothing is added that shouldn't be there. There's no overplaying or grungy chords or extravagent drum fills - just sounds that add to the great songs. I highly recommend Album. If I could only have 10 cd's this would be one of them.

Sydney-based band Matt Finish established its reputation as an explosive live act that could pack out any venue on the east coast of Australia. Matt Moffitt's powerful vocals, poignant lyrics and brilliant songwriting, coupled with the muscular backing of John Prior (drums), Rick Grossman (bass guitar) and Jeff Clayton (rhythm guitar), make Matt Finish's debut album an absolute classic. If you're a fan of eighties Oz-rock like Midnight Oil and Cold Chisel, this album is a must-have!

To hear the music of Matt Finish belting out of my stereo while driving is just so enjoyable and can not stop listening to it

One of the great Aussie albums of all time. Great playing, great vocals by Matt. (Taken from us way too soon).Three tracks are worth the price of admission alone. Look At Me, Short Note, and Mancini Shuffle. When I play this album, people say: "Oh..... I know this band" without really knowing them. A real gem.
