A Gold Mine Of Information On Vertical Antennas & Ground Radial Systems,

This review is from: The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial (Paperback)
The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial by Dr. Jerry Sevick. If you are an Amatuer Radio Operator with limited space to put up an antenna then The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial by Dr. Jerry Sevick is the prescription for your problem.
. This short tome, about 50 pages, gives the reader a background of vertical antenna and ground radial theory. But, it is also practical as the author shares his designs for limited space, shortened vertical antennas. All of which he has built and tested. And since these subjects are the author's vocation you get to share in his immense knowledge of these subjects. . If this book has a fault it is that at times it reads like a professional journal article, which it is. But, it is chock full of information which more than make up for its dry academic parts. . Every Ham should have The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial by Dr. Jerry Sevick in their library.

The bottom line on ground radial systems.,

Dr. Sevick did an amazing job of distilling the facts about radial systems. His work is beyond thorough, and the results are presented in easy to understand words and graphical form.
This book is a MUST for anyone who is interested in installing a ground mounted vertical and wants the most out of a radial field installation. K5PEW

A vertical must,

Jerry narrows the gap from what should work to what in fact does work. The amount of time and energy he put into these experiments and the measurments he took and how he took them boggles the mind. Keep in mind the test equipment he had to work with, his work is amazing. It was very helpful in my building a vertical antenna with limited space.

This review is from: The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial (Paperback)
This book is a summary of three magazine articles by the author 30 or so years ago. The gist of the book is that vertical antennas shorter than a quarter wavelength work if a) there are 40 or more ground radials 0.4 wavelengths or more long, b) there is a capacitive hat, and c) all inductors use #10 or larger diameter wire.

good practical and informative,
This review is from: The Short Vertical Antenna and Ground Radial (Paperback)
A real good book with a lot practical advice, but I am not 100% sure if the claims made will work. I will try to build some of his antennas.
