Product Description

Silkypix Developer Studio 3.0 is a rich RAW converter with unique adjustment tools for the professional grade photographer, including: noise reduction, fine color tuning, lens correction, white balance, and more.  The distinctive conversion algorithm allows the software to produce the very best colors available. Silkypix sits apart from the rest! The conversion algorithm that was developed uniquely to Silkypix provides the best color renditions compared to other raw converters on the market.  The program is “Smart” enough to help users get the best colors from their digital image files. The camera support that Silkypix provides is unmatched.  Silkypix works closely with many camera manufacturers adding nearly instant support for new cameras that are released. Users never have to worry when their camera files will be recognized with our software. Silkypix recognizes noise problems with photos on the spot.  Silkypix naturally applies automatic noise reduction, reducing the amount of steps that are taken to edit pictures.  With noise reduction tools, users can always maintain control of their pictures. The use of batch photo processing is a must for the avid photographer.  The ability to process multiple photographs in a fast and simple to use layout will save photographers many hours behind the computer editing photos in old single file fashion. Silkypix offers various color correction tools which allows users to be ultra-precise when it comes to attaining the best colors.  From fine exposure control, to the useful white/grey/skin balancing tools, the program allows unlimited flexibilitity. A forum is introduced online (www.silkypixforum.com) to exchange information about Silkypix in the photographic community, which includes a lot of helpful “insights” how to utilize the complete toolbox of Silkpix to it’s fullest potential and create your own silky smooth images.

5.0 out of 5 stars Silkypix Developer Studio V3 Review--Thumbs Up April 14, 2009
By Steve
I have a Sony A700 and have been using mostly Adobe products-- Lightroom and CS3. While they are quite capable software I have never been happy with the color produced converting raw-- Sony ARW files. I have never received an answer from the techs at adobe why my pix are always slightly overexposed with noticable color shifts as compared to the software provided by Sony--and yes my monitor is color corrected. The color shifts are most noticable on sunsets and portraits. It is really time consuming to be always tweaking colors and exposures for every pix taken. I only shoot Sony so I am not aware if this affects Nikon and Canon products. This software really produces truly superior results for converting ARW (Sony)raw files. Colors are right on and don't know how or why but pix seem to have consistently better detail than those that are converted on Adobe-- occasionally vastly better. My gut feeling is that Adobe wrote some really bad raw conversion software for Sony products and gets away with it Adobe products are so popular. I took some of my best photos and compared results with every raw converter I could find. It is truly remarkable how different the results are. If you shoot with Sony products this software is well worth the money and probably worth your time for Nikon and Canon products to test a free 30 trial. It also work perfect on Vista....

4.0 out of 5 stars a practical workstation October 20, 2013
Silky pix RAW converter ver 4 came with my Fuji XE1 camera. But I have since downloaded a fee trial of SP Developer 5 pro.(SPD5) The two workstations are presented and arranged in the same way but SPD5 has a few extra features which I have found wonderful. I am new to processing digital photos my only experience with other programmes has been with Paintshop Pro 6 which realy does not work for me. However I did practise hand photo printing in both colour and black and white for many years as both a professional working for a single photographer and a keen amateur. I do not need to cut and paste photo sections or remove colour selectively from areas of photos or do the stuff magazine editors require from photoshop, I just want to work the way I did in the darkroom correcting some of the faults which are inherent in the photographic process, with my tools arranged sensibly. An example: I often use a polarising filter in landscape pics but this can result in one corner of a blue sky being noticeably lighter. In the days of film I could do nothing about this as colour print paper cannot be dodged. With SPD5 (using a RAW file) I can place two versions of the photo on the workstation screen, one remains unchanged as a reference, turn on highlight warning tool and turn up the automatic dodge tool slider until the blown out sky has been burnt in sufficiently to restore detail, save (develop) and jobs done. A perennial problem in landscape photography has always been revealing detail in blown out areas of sky, the dodge tool slider also does service as a high dynamic range(HDR) slider. I have found this very effective at increasing the range of tones which can be portrayed so its great for revealing cloud formations when shooting into the light. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars best out there January 2, 2009
I haven't used this version.. yet.

I bought a Panosonic camera in the past that came with a 2.o version.

At first RAW was a mystery to me, I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about until I used Silkypix. Using my computer for a digital dark room is a real joy now. Shooting in RAW gives you the ability to manipulate all kinds of things like noise removal, color corrections etc. I tend to forget to check my horizon and end up with photos that are slightly off angle. This software lets you EASILY correct that.

This version works with practically every camera you can think of where the "free version" that comes with Panosonic cameras only works with their brand.

The nearly $150 price is a bit higher than Photoshop Elements but the ease of use makes this well worth the extra money. No more hunting for actions like with other software because it's all right there on your desktop and real simple to use.

I can't say enough good things about Silkypix!!!
