About the Author

Diane Cardaci was classically trained at the Art Students League of New York City, Parsons School of Design, and the School of Visual Arts. Her passion for both realism and nature led her to start her professional art career working as a Natural Science Illustrator in New York City, where she specialized in medical and natural science illustrations. Her work has been published by the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, as well as by major textbook companies such as Holt, Rinehart, and Winston. After studying portraiture with such nationally acclaimed artists such as Nelson Shanks and John Sanden, commissioned portrait work soon became an important part of her artwork. She is a signature member of the American Society of Portrait Artists and has contributed writing for the organizations publications. Diane is also a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, the Graphic Artists Guild, and the Illustrator's Partnership of America.

Great little book. Very helpful. Of course it says drawing made easy...and it may prove to be one day...but I think like all things, lots of practice is required.

Format: Paperback
This slim volume offers tips, techniques and shortcuts so that you can draw people, animals, landscapes and still life. Render subjects quickly and accurately. Learn how to measure proportions, block in and speed sketch. Step by step instructions are given for the basics of drawing. This book includes advice on materials and tips on using them. The step by step instructions build up detailed sketches and drawings. However, I had come across most of the tips elsewhere. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

As an artist I can say this book has helped me improve my drawing. It's a great reference book to just look at or use when you get stuck with a drawing problem. It's one of my favorite books and can recommend it highly.

This is a smaller book. It has a number of good ideas, on drawing realistic beings, landscapes, and so on. There is advice on tools- you want good tools. Nice little book.
