Very finer performances, excellent sound,

This is an excellent recording of two of Shostakovich's best string quartets. I have enjoyed this CD very much. However, aside from the warmer, more modern sound, these performances are not better than the older Borodin Quartet CDs on Virgin label. I would not want to be without this St. Petersburg Quartet CD, but there are other fine recordings.
