Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Bad Company (Michael Wojcicki, Darren White, Jason Maldini and Dan Stein) have managed to set the jungle scene ablaze with a consistent barrage of drum & bass tunes. They have achieved digital domination of the genre's dance floors by merging bellicose basslines with sounds of the apocalypse and a production sheen that's so polished you can see your face in it. Shot Down on Safari shows a more diverse side to the crew. Tracks such as "Dogsploitation" (a splicing of Swift's "Blaxploitation" and their own "Dogs on the Moon"), "The Hornet," and "Snow Cat," show that the quartet are still prone to the odd hard-as-nails headbanger, but there is much more besides. The opening track "Mo' Fire" (featuring vocals from $pider and Navigator) is a pretty nostalgic roller, boosted by potent ragga basslines and adrenalin-fuelled percussion. There are guitar licks and soulful vocals on "Wednesday" and even a little samba on "Dr Schevago." BC have never sounded so versatile, and they are all the better for it. --Paul Sullivan

Product Description
One of the most exciting production teams in drum-n-bass, this foursome (also known as Bad Company) is known for their genre-defining dark basslines, crisp snares, and twisted percussion. For their 2003 North American debut, the BC crew teams up with Dieselboy's Human label and System recordings to present a brand new artist album. Includes a mix CD featuring 21 classic BC Recording tunes. Slipcase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disc 01 Better, Disc 02, Best, February 24, 2003
By Erik (Maine) - See all my reviews
How can you go wrong? Two discs. One disc featuring all of the tracks (unmixed and in full) from the Shot Down On Safari LP released on BC Recordings. Another disc featuring a superb mix of the best drum n' bass ever produced. Exclusive tracks only spun by the very best drum n' bass djs. Only one complaint: whoever mixed the second disc didn't let the tracks playout long enough. Most of the tracks are played for only about 1:30 or 2:00. You get an idea of what they are, but it's still too fast. But, don't let that stop you! This is a great cd for any DJ or casual raver, regardless of your style!

4.0 out of 5 stars ultra diverse, May 20, 2003
By coco (usa) - See all my reviews
This is a wonderful release by BC. For all of those that have select tracks by Bad Company or CEIEC this cd definitley won't disappoint. Track one is like a blissfull flash back to ragga infused Hardcore. Throughout both disks the listener gets a feel for what dnb is all about all tied together with eclectic sounds and top notch production. This a definitley not for the timid.
an absoulute plus for any dnb diehard.
