Shotgun Bride,
By Merry Reader "Sissy" (Indianapolis IN USA) - See all my reviews Then Annie asked Mayor Pike, Sherif Rawlings and Mr Drake,(I don't remember what he did)to get rid of Sam. After they tied Sam up and put him on a ferry leaving Delacorte Island, someone else beat the living tar out of Sam while he was still tied up. Now Sam is back, he's now rich and in the mood for revenge. Annie felt she had a very good reason for not marrying Sam, but it wasn't her secret to tell Sam or anyone else. Although everyone on the small island already knows. Sam still loves Annie and he is determined to get her to the altar this time. Now the back of the book says that the whole town was helping Annie keep Sam from taking Annie to bed, but Mr Drake, Sherif Rawlings, and Mayor Pike are the only ones who really are trying to help Annie stay out of Sam's clutches . And he has a little bit of help for an unknown source,(the same one that beat him) to get her into his clutches. From the back of the book: 'True love is worth waiting for... The bad boy... Sam Beaumont was a poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Seven years ago he thought he was going to elope with Annie Delacorte. Instead he found himself run out of town. And the virgin bride! Sweet and innocent Annie had a good reason for jilting Sam. But now, Sam is back, and he has the money and the power to get what he wants. And he wants Annie. Only, the whole town is determined to protect her good name and ensure that Sam's seduction attempts don't end in the bedroom-but begin with a wedding.' |
