I love Tony Lucca and his music. His voice is just INCREDIBLE. His talent is capturing. His image is refreshing. His new CD, however, does not seem to embody the spirit of his music I fell in love with. The music I've come to know and love from his independent albums have such an appeal. They are the songs I still put on repeat and, four years down the road, have...

As a huge MMC fan back in the day I'm ashamed to say I forgot about Tony Lucca. Then one day, puttering around online, I 'found' him again. I've collected all his music since and have been eagerly awaiting a studio album from him. "Shotgun" does not disappoint. While it's almost a new sound for Tony, the heart and soul of his songs hold true.

I almost didn't want Tony to create a studio album. I was afraid some of his honesty and integrity might be compromised at the hands of music producers. Perhaps because his friends JC and Dale backed him or maybe just because Tony did things his way, the studio album is every bit as amazing as his other self-produced efforts.

This is a great step in an already successful career. Congrats, Tony!

5.0 out of 5 stars For lovers of singer-songwriters everywhere!, July 8, 2004

All I can say about this album is that it is inspirationalamazingbeautifultimelessinspiringmindblowing!!! I love it and I can listen to it for hours and find something else I love about it. Not only is Tony an amazing guitarist, but his lyrics are universal and allow all of his listeners to relate in some way. Also, if you love his CD, seeing him live will have you hooked forever because he has developed a way to come across on stage even more powerfully than he does on the CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Diamond in the Rough, June 27, 2004

Tony Lucca has a following of loyal fans, but those fans seem to be the only people buying this album. If given equal radio airplay as other more non-deserving acts, this could be a very high-selling album. Tony takes you into a world that is all his. His world consists of great lyrics and an all-around love of his work. He clearly loves to make music. It comes across on the album and at his live shows as well. Everyone needs to run out and pick up 2 copies. One for yourself and the second for a friend. Help spread the word about this great artist!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready for Shotgun, May 6, 2004

I have been a HUGE fan of Tony Lucca over the years. He's one of the most lyrically profound artists that I have heard lately. He has an amazing heart for his music and you can tell that in each and every song he has written over the years and all the songs appearing on this cd. He let's you in on what he's feeling and you can hear his emotions in his songs. "Bad Guy" is a great example. You know the song is straight from what has happened with him. He does a wonderful job of connecting you with him through his music. Not only is he a great writer but he's all around a great person. He has a special connection with his fans that you are able to experience whenever you get the chance to see him live. He's been working so hard over the past 6 years and I'm so happy to hear his album and I'm SURE it's going to be a great success. It's already one of my favorite cd's of all time. So pick up his cd if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love IT!, April 28, 2006
This review is from: Shotgun (Audio CD)
I will admit, when I first bought this CD, I bought it simply because it had Tony's name on it, and I've loved him since his MMC days. I was very pleasantly surprised when I put it in my CD player, and listened to the first song. I was hooked. I have a bad habit of buying CDs for only one song, and I thought that this was going to be one of those CDs, but with each song, the melodies, the lyrics, the passion just kept getting stronger and stronger

Lucca is a real talent. His lyrics grab your heart, and you can't help but relate. "Catch Me" is definitely my favorite song, but there are so many good one on this CD like the titular "Shotgun," the catchy "Maiden" which is always stuck in my head, and the poignant "Bad Guy."

For anyone who likes Tyler Hilton, John Mayer, or Gavin DeGraw, this is for you. From now on you'll be saying, for anyone who likes Tony Lucca. I can't wait 'til he makes it big so I can get another CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love to discover new talent, April 24, 2004
This review is from: Shotgun (Audio CD)
For me, I didn't hear of Tony Lucca before yesterday. I didn't know of him when he was on the MMC ... I saw him perform with JC Chasez of *Nsync fame on the Wayne Brady Show. They sang "Catch Me" (track 2) and I loved it. I made a point to seek out the CD and listened to it as soon as I got it. This guy is so talented and gifted not only as a singer, but as a songwriter as well. He wrote or co-wrote every song on the CD. The album is great from the music to the lyrics to the voice. It's just a wonderful CD. I highly recommend this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Awaited, April 23, 2004

When I'd first heard of Tony Lucca, it was on the Mickey Mouse Club, and I'd forgotten the name after so many years. Around a year to a year and a half ago, one of my friends (in one of our file-sharing sessions) had sent me the acoustic version of the song "It's True" by Tony Lucca. His name didn't immediately pop to my head, but the song went straight to my heart. After a lot of research and much more file sharing, I'd finally realized who he was.

Tony Lucca's "Shotgun" is a fantastic CD. He's not like JC Chasez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, or any of the other MMC'ers that went famous (I happen to like all of them as well. His acoustic sets and his soulful voice are a great thing for him.
