Someone beat this guy up., March 12, 1999

This review is from: Shoto Kan Karate (Paperback)
As no stars would mean that I have no opinion, I am forced to give this book one star. But understand that this is on principle alone, and not because I feel that it is worth that ever-so-important one star. All this book serves to do is glorify the ego of what MAY well be an otherwise good Karateka. Explainations of technique and form, if there are any, are devoid and vague at best, if not simply incorrect. In many instances all the pictures serve to do is show his majesty's adeptness at adapting a technique to befit his own body type and style. Nothing wrong with this in and of itself, but in very poor taste when attemepting to show OTHERS of the fundamentals of Karate. I must also emphasize that I am not acting under any underlying motives, i.e. to promote anyone else's work by dissuading other's. I seek only to proliferate the general knowledge of Karate and Martial Arts in general, and make sure that that which is taught is worthy of learning. Do not buy this book.
