5.0 out of 5 stars What's on the inside of Kalico Rose.
I've seen these guys in action and they have a lively stage presence in keeping with their unique music. The CD has songs that contain elements of rock and punk without hard core gutter punk sounds. Numbers like, 'Adreneline' make you want to rock out. 'Missionary' is another that gets your body moving in time to the beat. Listening to the CD is as great enjoyment as if...

3.0 out of 5 stars err...its ok
I bought this after hearing 'running from the gun' and 'adrenaline', which are both great...but as a whole the album did nothing for me. Missionary is also good. But as a whole, the album is just average, and the spoken word samples hey could've done without.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's on the inside of Kalico Rose., July 2, 2001
I've seen these guys in action and they have a lively stage presence in keeping with their unique music. The CD has songs that contain elements of rock and punk without hard core gutter punk sounds. Numbers like, 'Adreneline' make you want to rock out. 'Missionary' is another that gets your body moving in time to the beat. Listening to the CD is as great enjoyment as if you were standing outside a club and hearing them live from the stage. The recording studio did an outstanding job. Aside from the music, one can listen to the lyrics and realize that there is a certain artistry behind the compositions.

Tracks like, 'Righteous Vigilante' has rhythm, beat, and a solid uniformity of backup vocalizations that comes only from many hours of practice. Each song in the album is, without exception, excellent and it is hard to come up with a favorite- but if pressed it might have to be: 'Cruxifiction Politics,' or perhaps, 'Missionary.' Pistol Grip's release of 'Shots from the Kalico Rose' is definitely having an impact on this genre and what's on the inside of Kalico Rose is superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of best new releases, June 6, 2001
By
This is a great CD by one of the best new bands out there. Pistol Grip play a catchy uptempo style of punk that has definite Oi influences. The energy of their live shows is present here and every song shines with no filler. The vocalist is real good providing melody with an edge and the songs move forward without undue repetition and good lyrics. The production is real clean without being too polished, but every instrument has a nice presence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Punk, May 19, 2006
And that's all I have to say. If your into punk ranging from The Dead Boys to Pennywise, these guys will blow you away. Not original, nothing ground breaking, just punk, played well, with good hooks, lyrics, and production. What more need I say?

I bought this album after seeing them live and loved them! These guys are great! Hard to find old school style punk with an original sound! I've met the singer and he was very nice. Go to their show if they're ever in your area!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping Punk Alive!, May 31, 2002

Seth Mattei (Slidell, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
If you were to buy one recent punk CD all year, this would be it.
Pistol Grip is an amazing street punk band from L.A. Their sound
is a mixture between '70s English and New York punk and 80s melodic hardcore. They are simple, to the point, and in your face. This album is catchy, hard, and angry all at once and everything one should look for in a great punk album. See 'em live if you get the chance, too. They put on a great show!
