This review is from: Shoulda Woulda Coulda (Paperback)
"Shoulda Woulda Coulda" was an easy and interesting read. It is the story of a young woman named Paige. Paige is dealing with so much from an unfaithful mama's boy of a man and baby father, Marlon. Marlon's psycho drunk mama Ms. Lucille, who Paige has a fight with (too funny) and who wants nothing to do with Paige or her grandbaby Myla. Not to mention Paige recently lost a child...I really felt for her. I'm glad thing turned out the way they did. Very good read!

Paige Michaels takes a good look at her life over the last seven years. Pros: she has a seven-year-old daughter, a college degree, a dream home, two cars, and a man who is a good provider and an awesome lover. The Cons: He has not married her, he is a mama's boy, his mother hates her and he insists Paige's place is at home with their daughter.
Marlon and Paige met in college, fell in love and became a couple in almost every way. Seven years of expecting Marlon to marry her has worn Paige down. An altercation with his mother is the straw that breaks Paige's back; she moves out. What follows is a chain of dramatic events that will rock several people's world. Marlon, as expected, sides with his mom, lies about a relationship without his neighbor and begs Paige to come back home. Paige, not ready to go back to Marlon, gets a job, cuts her hair --something Marlon forbade, and starts dating. Tired of doing what everyone expects and tired of explaining herself, she creates her own drama. When secrets in Marlon's family closet surface, Paige finds the strength to do something she should have done a long time ago. SHOULDA, WOULDA, COULDA by La Jill Hunt is a drama filled read with all the unsavory emotions that parallel too much family interference, too many lies and too little commitment. Mostly it is a challenging tale of what happens when a woman realizes she has invested all of her emotions in one institution. What would have been a plus for me is if some of the secondary characters were a little tighter. Naturally, with all of the drama, this story does not have a predictable ending; in fact there are some surprises that will leave you opened mouth. Readers will experience a serious storyline with some sobering situations. I enjoyed this read and yes it had me shaking my head. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

Wouldna, Never, Ever,
By Dawn Chambray (Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shoulda Woulda Coulda (Paperback)
Paige, Paige, Paige what can I say. I guess she was living for a dollar and a dream thinking Marlon would marry her. It took getting held down and beat up to find out she wasted her time with him because he is a momma's boy. But the things he does for his momma doesn't make sense! Why would he marry a chick that he didn't love or want just to please his momma? Why would he put his children and happiness on hold for his momma's sack. Lucille was an evil woman and wrong to tell the lies that she did. Even after finding all that out Marlon stuck with her. See that's what I mean something is wrong with that. Did she do voodoo on him or what? Paige finds some happiness in the end but of course she stepped on some squirrels during the way. Celeste is another evil being that needs to be settled. Hopefully the sequal will put her in her place but I have a feeling there will be much more drama in store for Ms. Paige before all is said and done.

Never drama free,

Can anyone think of anything worse than a mama's boy? How about one that you've given your life to, but he won't marry you? NOW if that isn't shocking enough add to that some quarreling, lack of respect and skeletons in the closet and you'll have the contents of dramas very own, La Jill Hunts, newest novel.
I shoulda never played house. I woulda been beyond all of this. I coulda done better! Paige says as she watches her dream life take a turn for the worse through the rearview mirror as she hits the highway back home. Though pained Paige finds a way to move forward with a new look, life and possibly a new guy. Unclosed and unknown issues force her back down memory lane. Will the old Paige falter, or are the new and improved habits here to stay? All of you die hard Drama Queen/No More Drama fanatics will love the relationships of some of the past characters. Good read and I would have loved to see a lot more action because a few characters needed a couple of knocks upside the head. I really like this cover.

Entertaining!,
This review is from: Shoulda Woulda Coulda (Paperback)
Paige and Marlon have been in a relationship for the past seven years and have a daughter. Paige is devoted to Marlon due to him being a good provider and father. But Paige's love doesn't seem to be enough to make Marlon put a ring on her finger. To make matters worse, Paige has to deal with Marlon's alcoholic mother who doesn't like her and all of the drama that comes with it. In the midst of all this, Paige meets Quincy Westbrooke who seems to be all the man that she needs. Will Paige finally get rid of Marlon and get on with her life?
Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda is an entertaining novel by La Jill Hunt. Hunt brought a story that was full of excitement and drama. I liked Paige as a character and how she was trying to make the best decision for herself and her daughter. This author showed how women can be stuck in long term relationships and still not get the fulfillment that they desire. I also enjoyed the drama between Paige and her cousin Celeste. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda is a true page-turner and is the perfect lead-in to the sequel Too Close For Comfort.

I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel. Celestine got on my last nerves and the sad thing is that I know a couple of people like her. Keep up the good work LaJill.

Great Just Great,
This review is from: Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda (Hardcover)
This book was great. There are many words I could use to describe the book but Great! works so much better. I am going to admit I wasn't a book reader. I only read when it was only necessary. But I had a train trip and I was new to the train so I decided to buy a couple of books to read. Well I pulled out Mrs. La Jill Hunt book and it blew me away I enjoyed every bit of it. I didn't even noticed the shaking the train had me doing because I was so in to the book. I read it in two days and I am waiting for the chance to buy the next one. But til that one is available to me I am going back and reading the first La Jill Hunt books. I am glad I bought the book and certainly glad the new book came out this month.

I've read other titles by LJH and this one did not dissappoint me. Seems as though her style is always the same. The book entertained and kept me reading and that's what I bought it for. I was looking for a little more drama I guess but I'm not the author. I'd buy her next one seeing as though I have all of her others.
