4.0 out of 5 stars Old Fashioned Fun
An American International release ( I want to say 1975 ) with Lee Marvin and Roger Moore in southern Africa at the onset of WWI. A good natured, humor romp through most of the film, though it does get darker after Barbara Parkins baby is killed. Not the greatest transfer and my copy has little skips. Still a watchable product from China, just remember to turn off the...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT the longer, un-edited version as claimed
Unfortunately this feels like a bootleg version of a very fine movie. The movie gets 5 stars, the DVD gets one. Despite what is claimed in the technical description, this version runs about 114 minutes, well short of the original 150 minute original film. Also, the DVD is a very grainy copy of a pan and scan film, making it very apparent you are missing about half of...

Unfortunately this feels like a bootleg version of a very fine movie. The movie gets 5 stars, the DVD gets one. Despite what is claimed in the technical description, this version runs about 114 minutes, well short of the original 150 minute original film. Also, the DVD is a very grainy copy of a pan and scan film, making it very apparent you are missing about half of each scene. The real tragedy is that there isn't another version of this film on DVD at the present time. I'd only consider buying this DVD if you really need any version of this fine film. In the meantime, all we can do is dream of an un-edited, anamorphic widescreen transfer of this classic movie. Evergreen Entertainment, who released this version says on the back of the box that the DVD is only authorized for sale in Hong Kong and Macau. Must be because no one else would be happy with such a poor effort.

A good natured, humor romp through most of the film, though it does get darker after Barbara Parkins baby is killed. Not the greatest transfer and my copy has little skips. Still a watchable product from China, just remember to turn off the subtitles first! Lee Marvin was the archytpal tough guy in most of his career but could be incredibly effective in lighter roles with comedy -- a forte of Roger Moore. By and large a fun film. Directed by Peter Hunt ( ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE -- one of the best Bond films ever). A good time is guarenteed for all -- as the Beatles said in Mr Kite.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not At All Pleased, September 12, 2011

I agree with previous reviews. I loved the original movie but I paid big time for my copy and I feel tricked by Amazon. I got a very bad copy, very hard to see and can barely hear the English. (Chinese version is easy to hear, unforunately I don't speak Chinese.) What I got is definitely a homemade copy, not even a cover on the DVD case and box it came in has a blury picture which does not match the picture displayed by Amazon. Very disappointing as I waited a long time for this movie and assumed it was watchable since it was sold by Amazon.

so happy to find the movie in dvd format, just love the movie. we were very happy with the whole transaction. the movie arrived well within the time stated and was packaged very well. the dvd is in good quality, we will have no problems ordering dvds from importcds should the time come when we are once again looking for a difficult to find dvd movie. having the whole deal go through Amazon.com just made it that much more attractive knowing that the details were secure.

Picture of "Shout At The Devil" on Amazon DVD site not the same as the copy received. What was sent was a version labeled "not for sale outside of Hong Kong and Macao!"

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality DVD, December 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shout At The Devil (DVD)
Poor visuals the DVD appeared to be a copy of a bootleggged version of the film, sound and visual quality was horrible. Then this company has the nerve to say refunds available if unopened. Well who buys a DVD and doesn't watch it!!!! This is how I found out it was a horrible condition of a DVD. Now stuck with it after paying for it. Would not recommend this company I bought it from to anyone.Again poor visual and sound quality might as well been a bootlegged version.

1.0 out of 5 stars even the full version is a bit washed out, August 4, 2011
This review is from: Shout At The Devil (DVD)
I have just seen the full version which was in widescreen, but still had to zoom up my led tv due to my copy being too tight to watch, however even this private collectors copy was not up to a full blown dvd standard, looked a bit washed out in long shots, however this dvd and others are all shortend versions,ok the movie is not great but why some films are complete and others have trouble all the time is a pain, about 34 mins are missing, which in most movies just flushes out the chacrtors abit more,so what ever version you see you are not losing much.

3.0 out of 5 stars Huh?, March 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shout At The Devil (DVD)
I can't speak to the quality of the DVD or the content of the movie either. Just as with a couple of other Amazon sub-sellers recently, the merchandise never arrived. Price refunded after I finally was able to contact them, and a request that I let them know if it ever shows up. Right. Three stars because I really like both Lee Marvin and Roger Moore, and would have enjoyed the movie, and because the review won't submit without _something_ there. Zero stars for Amazon sellers who wash their hands of responsibility after handing a shipment to USPS, and refuse to use UPS or FedEx.
