5.0 out of 5 stars Good fun!
Some reviewers here seem far too critical. Our family accidentally chanced on a TV rendition of the move, and it was a lot of fun. Sure, it's not accurate historically and the plot is somewhat predictable (lots of movies out there are, including some classics), but acting, setting, mood, and story are well done, making this a good light-hearted evening watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rock 'n' roll film has its flaws, but pulls off enjoyable.
Though the plot was somewhat pedantic and the characterization left something to be desired, I found this movie strangely enjoyable. It doesn't lay it on heavily with things like engaging storyline, but if you're looking for an oddly watchable film on a lazy Saturday, this is just the thing. The film's high point isn't Travolta, though; it's a mostly-unknown named...

If you want a easy to follow, fun to watch movie, this is it. Travolta and Walters are great, and walters really brings the music to life and makes it seem realistic, like neone could play the way he plays. It was a good movie, and is worth watching

I AM A HUGE TRAVOLTA FAN AND THIS ONE DOES NOT DISSAPPOINT! JOHN IS A MUSIC TEACHER IN A BOYS HOME. HE TEACHES THEM TO LOVE AND PLAY ROCK AND ROLL WHEN IT WAN'T ACCEPTABLE. IT IS KIND OF LIKE DEAD POETS SOCIETY,ONLY JOHN TRAVOLTA IS MUCH BETTER TO LOOK AT. I KNOW HE HAS MADE SOME PRETTY BAD MOVIES BUT THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I HAVE WATCHED IT OVER AND OVER. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT TOO!

Good movie with a very young John Travolta trying to act and look older. If you like rock and roll this is a must see!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shout DVD.... Now a new Cult Film!, November 17, 2010

A decade old film is quietly discovered and become an overnight sensation, after a brief showing on a Movie Channel..I remember most of it, but forgot how much fun it was! I dare you to watch this and NOT, Move, Rock your Head, or Tap your Feet. Great charcters and predictable story line, but does that mean it's not a great movie? However if your into checking into "FACTS"..like historically incorrect, wrong liscence plates, wrong clothing for that time...then: Dont bother watching this movie..It is not about great film Making, rather its about FUN Movie Makiing. The music is absolutly right on, in Fantastic Surrround Stereo. Travolta and Jamie Walter, create a fine chemistry and all the other actors have grate one liners, or engaging character.~ However, now it can be viewed as the time, Rock and Roll was Way Underground, Sinful, and Corrupting the young! This movie has strong parallels to a more up dated movie: "Footlose" with Kevin Bacon. A same story line except with, "Dancing" instead of Rock and Roll.~~"{*The Ending will literally explode in your Face*}!".... Dont be afraid it wont bite, and you might have a grat night of ROCK AND ROLL.....I know my spelling sucks, but this isnt a Spelling Bee, just a movie review. (Younger viewers into Rap, Hip Hop, New Age Music, Etc. may find this movie laughable, and would find it totally "out in left field").... Thanks for reading my take on this Movie~~AND TG ROCK'IN ROLL IS HER TO STAY!

I just finished watching this movie and found myself plesantly suprised. The star studded cast did a great job of portraying the effect that freedom of music can have on self esteem, personality, and friendship. I feel that the movie also shows that it is good to stand in the face of adversity. Simplistic in it's storyline, it was easy to watch and heart touching. Bravo!
