Mostly admiration - not entertaining.,

This review is from: Shouting at the Mountain: A Hong Kong story of love and commitment (Paperback)
Well, one gotta admire this couple, with their common goal of educating the underpriviledged of Hong Kong for several decades.
As a book about their relationship however, the language is dry (British style?) and matter-of-factly. This book "told" me of their love but I never felt it, again maybe because of the writing style. I think this couple maybe a bit too private. Reading this book, I sense Elsie (who wrote 90% of the book) doesn't feel comfortable enough to bring the reader "in" their relationship. I am dissapointed, but I do not question that theirs is true love. I just wished they were more comfortable in sharing it with us. |
