Show Grooming and Grooming to Win are really two of the most important grooming books a horseman can own. The detailed show turnout information in this one is invaluable, with clever tricks and time-honored methods. The text and illustrations are easy to follow and reproduce. The author also stresses the importance of daily horse care as the most important show preparation you can make, and discusses ways to make all grooming extra-effective and efficient. When I was showing in my teens, my copy of Show Grooming was filthy and dog-eared from it's life in my barn locker, but my horse was beautifully turned out. I've just started showing again, and realize that the book is just old enough to have classic styles the younger set has never seen. Thus, when I got my hunter turned out for show, there were many admiring double-takes... and really, isn't that the point of Show Grooming? Getting that 2nd look from the judge?
