If You Love Hal Roach Comedies, Buy This,
By Mac Parsons (Durham, CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: On to the Show (Audio CD)
This makes a great soundtrack to your kids' lives, if you have youngenz playing around the stereo as we do ... another companion disc is now out of print, but find that one too, as that has other pieces this does not. The liner notes are fascinating ... anyone who grew up watching The Rascals will LOVE this lovingly reproduced collection of Roach backgrounds ... though I've read some fishhook jabs in other reviews about The Beau Hunks not getting EVERY SINGLE NOTE exactly right, those people should remember, if they read the accompanying literature, that the group had no sheet music to play from for that first cd - all done by ear. Because the original material is unavailable except from the films themselves, this is the only way to enjoy this music, sans the voice tracks, without your TV on. As good as it gets, and it was recorded live with two overhead mikes, as in the old days. I give this unique recording a 5 out of 5 mikes.

Beau Hunks And God,
By Nickle Nip "Nickle Nip" (Sioux City, IA) - See all my reviews

In the same sentence? Why not? This group of musicians have taken selected soundtracks of the Gang/Rascals and given it what it's needed for years - high fidelity and stereo. As far as I'm concerned, the Beau Hunks walk on water. This a perfect CD for rush hour traffic, a candlelight dinner or a child that you're trying to interest in orchestral delights.

Welcome to the Beau Hunks Time Machine,

Until time travel becomes possible, the next best thing is listening to The Beau Hunks Little Rascals music recreation CD.
Accurately and artfully reproducing the feel, character and tonic image of the original Leroy Shield's evocotive background music, Hunks nails the sound of the 'Little Rascals' single reel movies. Audio quality is tops and a joy to hear. So take some 'time' to jump back to the 1930's and experience some good 'ol listening memories and old fashioned enjoyment.

The music is sweet, warm, and funny. The BHunks are great archivists and performers-- if you like this CD, try to get a hold of their concert DVD-- it's a true joy.

A must for comedy & Hal Roach fans! Beau Hunks have FLAWLESSLY done a superb job duplicating & even outdone the original. Snappy tunes will bring lots of memories, not just of OUR GANG but other Roach talkie films as Laurel & Hardy, Charley Chase. Also get the other RASCAL music CD before it vanishes. Paid $50, but worth every penny! Thought in those days it was Marvin Hatley that did all those tunes; what a revelation to know it was Leroy Shields;never heard of him till I got this CD(I have been a Roach enthusiasts for 40 years!!) BRAVO!! MUST BUY!!

This is the "Part 2" CD released in 1995. The first Beau Hunks Little Rascals CD titled "The Beau Hunks Play the Original Little Rascals Music" was released in 1994. (I purchased both in a 2-CD boxed set a few years back) In my opinion, there are many more familiar tunes (50 tunes on each) on the first CD. Although this CD has many classics, I beleive that in an effort not to duplicate tunes on the 2nd CD, they play music that was not as familiar or may have only been heard on one or two movies. Still great music, but not as familiar. Buy this CD.....but look for the original Beau Hunks Little Rascals CD too!

As I stated in my review of the first CD of Little Rascal's music. This second set is every bit as good as the first cd set feturing the classic 'Little rascal's music, although most of the best tracks are on the first disc, this set is nothing short of amazing too! The Beau Hunks capture the original music perfectly minus the 1920's and 30's recording standard. It's a fantastic must have set for fans of great music! "Oh Miss Crabtree there is something heavy on my heart!" ;-b

when it comes to bringing back memories, this cd drops darla, alfafa, and buckwheat right in your lap. these songs have never been heard in there entirty, so I was very eager to listen, and I was not disapointed,. this group as I, found the music to be the supporting structure of the little rascals, taking it several steps above everything else, and even though they carefully researched, crafted, and even went so far as to using a single period microphone and instruments, did not make the music sound canned or labored. just a note to the guys, I first ordered this cd when I was working on a radio staion in wyoming, they loved it, pop it in and have some cocoa..

I don't know a title for this review. The review will be "short and sweet" as well. I LOVED IT! I could just picture those kids "doing their thing" as I listened to the music. I'm so glad that this cd was produced.
