I've read just about every book on showing, and this is the best introduction to the world of dog shows I've seen. I wish more exhibitors shared Caroline Coile's wonderful attitude about showing dogs. She covers everything from finding and raising that show quality puppy, basic stacking and gaiting (with helpful color photographs), entering shows and what to do when you get there, and problem solving techniques, to good sportsmanship and suggestions on how to avoid common pitfalls. And she does it all with a great sense of humor -- an important quality to have when you're showing dogs!

I have read several dog showing books and this one is the best for no nonsense, get to the point teaching about the dog show world. The author is a wonderful teacher and seems to be talking to you as if you are a friend of hers. You WILL learn the lingo of showing and feel comfortable in the ring once you have read and followed her advice. A must read for all new to showing!

If you are thinking about showing your dog, and want to know the ins and outs that has a no nonsense approach, this is the book for you! There are helpful hints and approaches that a person just beginning would have to learn the hard way. Ms. Coile wrote this book as if she were telling secrets and giving advise to a trusted friend. She emphasizes above all to be a good sport, a gracious winner and loser...and of utmost importance-to remember this is your beloved animal and pet first that you will be showing. The book uses humor, is consise to the point. Take it from someone who has read many dog books, this is one of the best!!!!!

For the past i dunno how long, i have been reading tons and tons of books on how to show your dog, "Properly" to get AKC points, but none of them worked. So, I bought this book hoping to actually learn something, and i did. Because of all the hints and secrets in this book, one of my golden retrievers has 13 points and the other 14 points, so thank you, Ms. Coile, your book has done more than help us!!!

This is a great book for the beginer and experienced handlers. It tells you everything you need to show a dog from stacking the dog and ring etiquet. The best book written about dog shows that I have read. It tells you all of the "tricks" to keep your dog looking good. This is my bible to the show dog world!

This is a fantastic book for the owner-handler competing against the professionals! It helps out the novice as well by explaining dog shows. However, I've been in dog shows since I was young and needed a book for the next level. This was perfect! There were so many hints, tips and techniques that I had never heard of. There were hints on training your dog, using your dog's best assets, handler techiniques etc. I couldn't put the book down! This book needs to be in every dog showers library.

This is an excellent primer for the novice dog exhibitor. If you want to get involved in showing dogs, I recommend you start with this book. It is written so both the younger handler and adult will find it useful. The basics are well covered, and there is additional information on how to solve some of the problems that may occur in the show ring. Overall, it is an excellent resource and I highly recommend it.

This is an OUTSTANDING resource, especially for the novice who would like to enter this wonderful, frustrating, exciting sport. I have recommended this book to a friend who is getting started....I certainly wish I would have had this when I started my show career. This is by far and away better than any book I've seen about showing dogs, and I've read them all. The format is easy to manage, written in a style that is easy to comprehend, and very comprehensive. This will save you months if not years of "toiling in the trenches." Showing dogs is not inexpensive, so why not give yourself the best information possible? I wholeheartedly endorse this book!

This is a great book! It has really helped me.
I am a Junior Handler in shows, but I don't yet have a dog, so I show other peoples dogs.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It has so many helpful tips and pointers. I read it before I go to bed, and I also practice my ring procedures with a stuffed dog.
This book has done so much for me. So, if you are new to dog shows, like I am, this is definately the book for you. I would recomend this to newcomers, like myself.
After reading this, I attended my 5th show. I came in first and that was all I needed to make it to the Junior Nationals, where I placed first.
Read this book. If it can help me, it can help you too!
