"Show Me Love" was a great hit. I remember it being played in heavy rotation back in '93. I just love that techno dance beat. And the lyrics are so great.

Robin's such a talented and beautiful lady with an incredible voice! This album definately shows that. She's awesome. I love her voice and spirit and she shall not be ignored. Her music really brightens up my life, especially "brighter day." She truly gives us all a 'brighter day' when listening to that song! Her voice takes me higher and higher! She's a true idol to me cuz she doesn't let anything stop her! She has the most powerful voice in the world! She's one of the most hard-working and committed artists in dance music. I am still fascinated by her voice. Not many other singers can sing better than her. By listening to her music, I always find the peace, love, joy and happiness I need. A big thanks to Robin for being such a diva and a soul sister to us all!
I really hope the world sees and hears her by her music and I hope she continues to spread the message of love and peace. Buy this now if you don't already own it or buy it as a gift for friend who doesn't already have it!

As an electronica/dance music aficionado, this disc is great. For those into the music...5 stars. This review isn't about that.

I bought this disc basically mainly for the extended remix of "Show Me Love". The regular version and the rest of the disc sounds okay, except for the usual brick wall level slamming, but then again almost all commercially available discs of this genre are like that. However the extended version just plain sounds horrible. Fuzzy, spitty and distorted sound.

Whoever did the mixing and/or mastering on that track probably either did it on really cheap gear or should have their hearing seriously examined. Trust me, this is being played through a megabuck CD/DAC system. Maybe there's a different version, I'm looking; but if it is in the mix, then it's pointless as they'll all be the same. This is a NOS 1993 Atlantic recording, catalog # 782509-2. For that...1 star. Disappointing.

So overall a 3, I guess.

A more extensive review to follow in the future........

Frank Wildhorn had scored decently with Stacy Lattisaw's "Miracle" in the early 80s, and he did wonders with Linda Eder. The same fare is hidden among this early 90s dance album in the form of a single called "What I do Best". The song had all the appeal of Whitney Houston's "Didn't we almost have it all". Sadly, the single was not widely received, probably due to the fact that Robin S had been labeled a club/dance artist, and rightfully so. It was heard playing in retail overhead and now can, unfortunately, be found online with a dance remix which is totally unnecessary for a melodious ballad such as this. Another song in this vein, "When you find love", is near the close of this album but is much weaker. "Who's Gonna Raise The Child" would also be considered a ballad but has more R&B appeal than either of the others. The same formula is used on Robin's next album, "From Now On" in 1997 and the one adult contemp ballad "There is a Need" is not as strong as anything on "Show Me Love", lyrically or performance-wise.

My brother got me listening to her when I was 13. This is a great cd and brought back a lot of great childhood memories.
