5.0 out of 5 stars "Basic and Smart, That's How I Live"
Every time I listen to this album I always find something new. Grouch uses witt and his laid back personality to drop an album that touches all aspects of life. I can go from a deep contemplative state on the world to gettin hyphy and people lookin at me in the whip like I'm crazy, but that is almost classic Legends style. 1.0 out of 5 stars Really, Grouch?
I have listening to the Grouch since 2000. His early work is timeless and I will continue to enjoy it for a long time to come. As time has gone on, I noticed a change in the Grouch's style. The fame and pressure got to him. His music shifted more and more to a mainstream "hyphy" sound with candy beats and some of worst rhymes I have heard. He now has his head so far...

Parts of this album you really get the sense it's comin out of the Bay Area. I mean with a song like The Bay to L.A. it's really blatant that this album will incorporate some of the Bay characteristics. Anyways, if you down with the Legends, like the classic hip-hop, or just want to diversify your music collection this is the album to get.

Favorite Tracks:

Favorite Folks: "If you hear me think about your favorite folks is lost"

Clones: "Don't wanna take your girl, save your girl"

Show you the World: "That's the spirit baby, let down your hair"

Never Die: "Say F+++ the system, but I'm no victim"

Hot Air Balloons: "Either way I'm on the rise, travelin hot air balloons and colorful sunset skys"

Breathe: "Temptations lures, but my aim is pure"

&

GOD BLESS THE ELEPHANT: "It's so much easier not to care, glad I got good people in my square, who still careeayre, you won't find them everywhere" "God will provide us"

Ordered on the fly, and not expecting too much for shipping. Sender was able to have it at the house two days before Christmas. Not expected until first week of January. It was much appreciated. Thank you. My brother and I rocked out Christmas Eve. :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Really, Grouch?, June 15, 2011
This review is from: Show You The World (Audio CD)
I have listening to the Grouch since 2000. His early work is timeless and I will continue to enjoy it for a long time to come. As time has gone on, I noticed a change in the Grouch's style. The fame and pressure got to him. His music shifted more and more to a mainstream "hyphy" sound with candy beats and some of worst rhymes I have heard. He now has his head so far up his ass he forgot who he was and what he did to make himself known. He is probably wondering why his popularity has decreased the last couple years, and this crappy excuse for music with his cocky holier-than-thou attitude and half-brained lyrics are to blame. He used to be all about the hip-hop - having fun, coming up with smooth, cool beats and smart philosophical yet not in-your-face rhymes that everyone could enjoy; but now he is preachy, spouting his beliefs as truth and carelessly leaves behind any fan who does agree with what he says and does so over wack beats with horrendous lyrical structure.

He repeadtedly breaks up words to in some desperate attempt to make lines rhyme, making it sound awkward, forced and choppy. Every song he does this.

He blindly insults many of his lisnteners by pushing Creationism and spouting the line "Only dummies believe Darwin..."

The song "Mom & Pop Killers" is so terrible I put in the same class of crap that is played on the radio. The beat sounds like it came from an 8 year old was playing with GarageBand, and the lyrics are so broken up and so preachy I cannot stand to hear 20 seconds of the song...and I even hate Wal-Mart!

I think the people that like this album are those who had never heard The Grouch before or they only just started listening to him. There's nothing wrong with that-it's jsut something I've noticed. All the long-time Grouch fans I know thought this album was poop.

I'm glad some people like this album. The grouch needs to put food on the table. But, if he continues to sell this type of garbage, he will have to find another career because hip-hop fans will not keep on buying this stuff.

Sorry, Grouch. I still love most of your music and I still think you are very talented, but you can do better than this. I know you can. All you long-time fans know you can. Don't leave us in the dust with our respect for your music stripped away. Give us something like you used to. I and all the other Grouch fans need it, and you do too.

So, I still love the Grouch, but this album is just poop. POOP.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worst CD from him, February 11, 2009
This review is from: Show You The World (Audio CD)
I love the Living Legends and the Grouch, but I don't think that he put his heart and soul into this album. The beats are average and the rhymes are average. I don't know what he was thinking, but far below his expectations. I only liked a few songs on this album.

This is a sexy. album.
Grouch is a wordsmith. Brilliant and direct. Creative and powerful. He's got a lot of charisma and comes straight from the heart. He drops some good food for the soul on this one.

Highly reccommended!!

Grouch comes correct with this one! Lyrics are so dope, intellectual, and thought-provoking. He exceeds the high expectations he has set for himself and delivers a well-balanced, pro-tools laced banger of an album. LL for life.
