Show Your Own is hilarious!,
By Edit Purple (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Show Your Own: An Arguable Novel and a Screenplay (Paperback)
Show Your Own was great. It's funny and it's different. Through conversations and screenplay segments, the author examines the problems inherent in the depiction of manic-depressive behavior, generates interest in the screenplay, and tells something of the mid-life events that influenced the central character's writing of the script. Finally, the book concludes with a completed screenplay revised in light of the critiques and suggestions made in the earlier discussions. The descriptions of mood and emotion are convincing, and the depictions of mania capture that state as well as anything I've ever read. Additionally, I enjoyed the book's portrayal of legal education from a teacher's point of view. The screenplay could be the basis for a good movie. More than anything, however, the book is hilarious!

A vivid, play-by-play saga of a manic episode,

This review is from: Show Your Own: An Arguable Novel and a Screenplay (Paperback)
Show Your Own: An Arguable Novel And A Screenplay by George L. Bilbe is a vivid, play-by-play saga of a manic episode and how it greatly affects all those around the one in the grip of an unshakeable euphoria. The lines of dialogue flow fast and furious in this attention compelling story, one which reads well as a straight work of fiction yet begs to be adapted to the stage.
